First I should say I have had no dealings with RG other than buying 2 small parts, which cost what I was told, were what I had asked for, and were delivered to the right place at the right time…
Two pennenth -I'm surprised that anyone can price a car when the level of finish is still to be determined – other than assuming a very high specification, so POA is probably the correct way to advertise the sale.
If they get a figure close to the 76K they initially asked it would seem reasonable, especially in light of folk asking and seeming to be getting 55K for 30-40K mile models and newer or very low mileage cars selling for over 60K?
Folk that are looking to buy will always complain, those owning or looking to sell should be happy that prices are going up and not down – surely??
That's really the point, everything pretty much had been specified except trim colour and tyre preference. £70k was absolute all inc OTR figure. If it was just an option to pex, looks like they are being greedy and I would be equally upset.
I bought my Sagaris in 2011 and had gone to RG to have the quad exhausts fitted which is when I saw the car we are discussing. I had paid £39k for mine and they said they would give me £40k in 10 months when the fitting out was done OR I could just pay the maximum cash price which was £70k. It should be remembered that the prices for Sags didn't start to move up until 2012. Anyway, it's just my experience and not one I enjoyed. Fortunately I have had some great fun with the one I have, helped out with some charity work and made some incredible friends. All the TVR owners I have met have just been really nice folks.
Can I just point out one thing - you only have one persons word on what happened, and I cannot trust that person in the slightest.
I will agree that RG haven't come out well, but in this case there are no winners.
Several people on here are very happy with their cars and service, but hey, people will only believe what they want to.

.... likewise I'm sure you only have the other side of the story. That said there are other tales and this thread holds one of them....... However as is usually the case the in all such stories the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.
Wow this company is getting some real negative exposure. And that is how it should be if correct…..this is real (and big) money we are dealing with and when I spend my hard cash I want to know who the cowboys are.
Apart from Don1 there must be others who have had a good experience other than buying some of the shelf product.

Well, I have made contact with them twice. the first time was before Christmas, when I ordered a reverse switch - but I got an email back stating that none were in stock. the second was an email to them to ask for a price for their manifold and sports cat package, but never received a reply.

Ony RG if some fool pays 'em £95,500 , no wonder they didn't want a customer paying £70,000 . I bet it cost peanuts assuming it was one of the Multipart stored cars. Tidy profit margin there .Edited by glow worm on Sunday 6th April 21:11
I bought a car from them in March '13, had it serviced and looked after by them ever since, I paid a decent chunk for it and the services they provide are definitely not cheap so my expectations are reasonably high but i've never been let down.
I must be one of the lucky one but I've never really have a bad word to say about them myself and they've always made sure I'm very well looked after.
I'm not taking away from the people who have obviously had problems but I thought I'd just chuck in my experience.

Not sure who the person is you are referring to Don, but (if it's me) you are more than welcome to read the correspondence next time we are at the same event.I will agree that RG haven't come out well, but in this case there are no winners.

I'm sorry, but what utter tosh. We're obviously all aware of one side of the story, thrown across these pages. I'm also aware of the other side, and yes, there are some very large differences. However as is usually the case the in all such stories the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle.

If serious collectors ever get interested in TVRs, little things like who the hell made the car are going to matter.
Yeah if a Sagaris is ever worth £100k this won't be the one. Not everyone buys cars as an investment though and if someone really wants a brand new Sagaris built by somebody else and aren't worried about the money then good luck to them, I'm sure this'll be the right buy for somebody - maybe not at £95k though!Don1 said:
