Where did my old Tam go….
Discussion
Anyone out there know where my old Tamora went. Loved this car, just the best colour and drove like a dream. Purchased privately, lot of work on the car and sold to Mr James A. I then purchase a GT3 …wished I had kept the Tamora.
Bit like an old friend…would love to see how life turned out and where it ended up.

I viewed the yellow Tam back in November last year before the guy moved it to the dealer. Absolutely loved the colour but didn't fancy a project with a house move on the horizon.
The Dutch TVR guys who owned the car at the time were great. Happy to put you in contact if you do not have their details already.

Yes I imported it 2 weeks ago, Dutch guys were really helpful, it needs some work but I think it will be great after its sorted. DVLA & MOT stuff all done, just needs some TLC to get it into mint condition again.
Cheers,
Jon
Jon, a1butch described it as a project, you say it needs some TLC...........I'd be very interested to know what it actually needs.Cheers,
Jon
I only ask as I can't stop spending on mine and wonder if my idea of A1 is different to other peoples??
When I had the car I did a lot of work on it. Respray to get rid of stone chips and the old black paint on the bonnet etc. New TVR power pipes for a better sound....new radio in order to drown out the new pipes. .Reupholstered seats as they were getting tired, wheels chromed, and a lot of TLC. Engine was good and the overall condition was as good as any others. Great car, I would have bought it back in a heart beat.
IMO, first thing to get rid of on some cars is the Buffalo Hide, or whatever it was call. Never saw a Buffalo that's for sure. For those who want to keep the cars original....after 10-15 years I bet you could put your finger through it.

Ok well here is a small list
Shocks & springs as rears have had it
Couple of minor oil leaks
Repair fibreglass under front splitter
New interior - budget depending?
A big service
Speed sensor
Engine mounts
Adjust front windows
Adjust bonnet
Adjust handbrake
Pads and disks ok
Change headlights to rhd
Swap fog and reverse light
Upgrade all bulbs to LED
Hid kit
New wheels and tyres already fitted
Recent clutch already fitted
I am sure there are a few other bits and bobs but will sort this little lot first.
It will be A1 once I have finished, plan to do all of the above ASAP
I may have purchased some 5 spoke shadow chrome TVR Sag wheels for it

I am sure it wasn't 'Buffalo Hide', it was some kind of cheap vinyl that seemed to last about 12 months from brand new. My first Tam had this and was only under a year and a half old, and the seat bolster was already showing signs of wear!IMO, first thing to get rid of on some cars is the Buffalo Hide, or whatever it was call. So I agree, one of the first big jobs to do, if the car still has that awful original Buffalo crap, is to have a real leaher re-trim.

Well I thought this thread deserved an update after 6+ months.
So far the following has been completed...........
T66 TVR Reg fitted
New 3.6L Engine fitted by STR8SIX inc Crank etc, (only thing we saved was the block!) (100,000mile Warranty)
Engine Mounts
Speed Sensor
Blue ACT Hoses
Chrome water pipes
Blue powder coated head cover
Nitron's fitted
Diff Bushes replaced
Wishbones painted and new Bushes fitted
ARB Drop links replaced
Power Steering Motor replaced
Brakes 304mm (waiting to be fitted)
New Battery fitted
Pedal Box moved forwards
Headlights replaced to RHD
Fog and reversing lights swapped
Side Windows adjusted
Gearbox Fully Rebuilt (3rd/4th Synchro)
Centre Console replaced with a black leather one.
Turns out the car was already de-catted, but passed the MOT!!!
Shes still being run in and a few hundred miles to go before I can open the taps.
I knew she would need some TLC and potentially an engine rebuild, some of which was built into the purchase price. Overall I am happy that I now have a cracking motor which certainly is rare and hopefully will start to rise in value with time. Although I am not looking to sell anytime soon
Looking forwards to getting out and about in 2016 a bit more than I did in 2015 as shes been off the road for much of this year.
Ken I would be up for meeting up one Sunday morning if we can find a pub/coffee stop half way... let me know.
Cheers,
Jon

My old Tamora!
I bought her in spring 2008 and sold her the dutch guys a year later.
Prior to me, I bought the car off a guy caller Chris who had the private plate TVR23 on the car. I think he bought the car from James Aggar when she wore the plate P800XXX.
The car was originally purchased from TMS in Melton Mowbray by a fellow P'header - "flasher". She originally had 16" alloys and an early factory engine rebuild.
Thats all I remember

Yes I Love the colour and it gets loads of attention at shows, simply because they are so rare. Its driving a hell of a lot better now with the Nitron's fitted and new bushes. I am collecting her on Wednesday as I've had the power steering motor replaced and bigger discs going on. Every time I think I am close to it being sorted something else random seems to fail, should have the running in done in a couple of weeks and the fun begins
