After leaving Burghley on Sunday afternoon and being about 25mins
north up the A1 a grey Sag came past who, let's say was established in a "nice progressive cruise" smile

Thought that Megane Sport right up your a**e wanted to make love to it! made a TVR sandwich for a
while, don't know what he was trying to prove? was nice to see you leaving him behind smash

I suspect sometimes that the word "Sport" stuck on the back of an underpowered hatch encourages some yoofs to try a canine sport of the outdoor variety.whistle

The most inappropriate use of the word "Sport" on the back of a car that i ever saw was the Vauxhall Frontera Sport. 0-60 in around 17 seconds..... reckon the "Sport" was bog snorkelling hehe

Is a genuine 265 bho in a car weighing 1400 kilos underpowered? Drive one, you will soon understand why the badge is appropriate.

Let's face it, 'Sport' or otherwise there are some morons that want to pick a race with any other car (was he wearing a baseball cap back to front?).
The Megane Sport is a decent car and on a track would probably embarrass any TVR but in a straight line? No chance!

Some of the new hot hatches really are hot - some have around 300bhp these days!

I am sure that, if TVR were still in business, the new TVR's would be outputting 400+bhp now...

I had a play with a new focus st on the way home. I think the st had been modded as the turbo noise/dump valve was insane and it had plenty of carbon bits on but it was no match for my healthy Griff 500. After a couple of duel carriageway drags where both times I managed to easily open up a 4-7 car lead he fell right back and gave up. Fun though.

The Sag was allegedly 406bhp when new (although the reality is more like 390bhp).

I know - but I am sure that now, the least powerful variants would have that as standard - that's what I meant. smile

Owning a Megane I wouldn't try against any TVR unless I wanted to hear it roar off.

Though I know of a few Meganes that would surprise even a Sag.

20bhp less than that - mine was figured at 368 before the FFF, a figure not far from RedSpikes.

Well, ok, thereabouts anyway. TVR used to be cheeky and measure their figures on an engine dyno with no ancillaries.

Anyway, point is that the engines were in that ballpark already. And we know that the engines have evolved into true 400+bhp now. So in a way I was agreeing with Chris. smile
