OK, having no luck getting the 3 pin ECU connection to talk to the computer, but I know that the OBD connector works as I've used someone elses. Anyone know where to get one, either OBD to serial or OBD to USB?

Forgot to mention, T350 with Sagaris engine.

Thanks

The Diagnosis pins on the OBD Plug are:

2 - Comm TX -> Pin 2 of the DSub9
3 - Comm RX -> Pin 3 of the DSub9
5 - Comms GND -> Pin 5 of the DSub9

And you need the USB/RS232-Adapter.

Thanks Oli, i was wondering if there was anywhere to get a OBD serial or OBD USB lead, all ready to go? I've found OBD to serial leads but they say you need some hardware other than the PC to use it;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Serial-COM-Port-RS232-DB...

big link sorry!

Lots of OBD to USB but they seem to be marque specific on ebay / amazon.

Could I just splice into the wiring to the OBD and attach it directly to a serial connector?

Hi Tony, it's easy to mix i up: The leads you can buy on eBay are for OBD Plugs with the OBD-II Protocol.
The OBD-Plug in our cars is only a plug which has the shape of the OBD-Plugs, but the signals on the Plug are different from that, what you have in newer cars.
So you have to make it yourself with:
- An OBD Plug
- A Serial DSub9 (Female)
- An USB/RS232 Adapter

The OBD-Cable looks like that:

Just to close the thread out - done! Spliced into the wiring before the OBD connector and left a 9 pin connector on a lead for ease of use. Thanks for the help smile

I am getting a little stumped on this to get Easimap to work.

The car is a Sagaris with an OBD II socket. I note there is a good dozen wires going to this socket..... yet only three are utilised for a 9 pin Dsub - USB cable.

At this stage I cannot get anything to work...
1) Am I correct in saying it should just be a 3 pin cable? Despite many going to the OBD socket I the car?
2) Is there a specific diagnostic tool that plugs into this socket?

Yes, you only need the 3 pins (2,3 and 5). The others connect to the ECU, but they aren't use on the MBE ECU TVR put into the car. The've planned to use an enhanced ECU in the first place.

Alternative Software to Easimap, works with any Windows version, better support for USB/Serial Converter:

Standalone Diagnostic Device, you can contact me if you want a ready built version:
