I think I have given up with the t350 Nitron thing its a big shame. I got the 350 to keep, its never going to be as good as my old Exige. Looking at 911's (997)

Time to give up on British cars I think. A sad day.

You knew that before you bought it. Nothing handles like an Exige.

Yep but 6ft4 I was pushing the cabin space, was looking for a GT / British car but I am just out of love with it. Time to look again or get a van!

Even though I was supposed to get my car back today (with fixed dash Pod) and try out those AST shocks, the dash ecu now has to go straight back down to PS... all sorts of crazy s××t going on, fog lights turn themselves on etc... approaching 3 weeks without the car, but still... I can't see anything that could replace it that wouldnt bore me to death. Already done the lotus thing with an elise sc...

SergSC Keep us posted how you get on with the AST's though, sorry to hear of the probs....

So... I put the car in to install the AST's + engine mount, I left... forgot to leave the keys, mail them in the next day, the next time the garage start the car the electrics fry themselves, pod and dash ecu sent down to PS, comes back up, other electrics still crazy, dash ecu sent back down, back up, electrics still crazy, turns out all because the fuse board is screwed (it didnt stop rusting after I water proofed the car, naturally)... great, all done down, I have the car back.

The 1st impressions review of the AST adjusted to middle settings, on 30 miles of the trossachs finest.
Not crashy at all! Its still very firm/stiff/sporty (I actually want that!), but in a nice way, like the car isnt shaking itself and my teeth to bits. The low speed ride quality is far far better than the nitrons, i.e feels like I have suspension, whereas Nitrons = iron bars... yet it seems just as roll resistant and direct as the nitrons on the B roads in quickish driving (probably because I get no where near the nitrons full capabilities). I currently feel that this a far better setup/compromise for road than the racing nitrons. I'm currently very glad about the risky and very expensive swap.

And then... chap stops next to me at the lights and tells me my brake lights dont work.... AARRGGGGGGHHHHHH. frown

Finally got my brake lights working (little roller had fallen off the brake light switch actuator arm) so I could do another bit of driving on the ASTs.
The road that annoyed me the most was the one that I use everyday on the way to work, its very uneven and full of them sharp edged trenches that go right across the road. Not a problem at all on the ASTs, its like night and day vs the 46mm NTRs. Very very happy with the result smile

As mentioned before, when going over those trenches on the nitrons, the whole front of the car appeared to fall into them in time with wheels, as though the shock was not being allowed to extend in time. This doesn't happen on the ASTs, obviously you still feel them, but its far far more comfortable and composed than the nitrons up to say 50mph. The nitrons only work at high speed, the harder you hit the bump the more it works, its great for track/racing and if only use the car occasionally for `spirited` driving, but for an everyday car, not for me.
If anyone wants them they are going for half what tvrpower ask for a new set.

Hi Serg. I went from GGP's to nitrons and the ride quality on A and B roads was totally transformed. It was so smooth and soft and nowhere near as harsh as the GGP. I think l have to thank the garage l use for setting them up correctly. The correct geo setup is key l think to having the best handling car you can make it. So if l went to AST's it must be even better.

Hi portzi,
When did you get nitrons? And which model?
I ask because we are seeing wildly different reports which IMO seem to be split by when they were bought. All the unhappy people seem to have bought the nitrons recently, whereas everyone who raves about how nice the ride quality is with nitrons seem to have bought them quite a long time ago.

I had a total body off refurb 2 years ago. I got the NTR with 350 spring rate front and 250 rear. But l suppose with the larger side wall on my tyre compared to the tam it would be alot less harsh .

It's the new 46mm track/fast road Nitrons that seem to be causing a lot of comment. More track than fast road, it would seem

i spoke to nitron re the 40 vs 46. body told them what i used the car for, and they steered me away from the 46 suggesting id find the use on the road too harsh.

My 46s are going back this week, again.

I will ask them to revalve them so they are more suitable for road/track as they allegedly market them as!

Just read up about the 46mm comparing to the 40mm NTR, obviously the diameter of the piston is larger and eibach springs have been introduced. This was an interesting read from thr lotus boys who probably have the best handling cars in town !!!!

Nitron NTRs seem fine but the Pro 46s are way to harsh on their damping for road use.
