Just spent the weekend in Brittany, and although the roads were for the most part excellent, I was caught unaware by a level crossing and ended up slapping the front splitter on the Tam down hard.

As a consequence she is split along the length. Bugger.

I'll be looking to get a proper repair over the winter (once I can figure out how to get to the inside/back of the splitter)but as an interim I intend to fill with sealer/adhesive to give some stability and a reasonable cosmetic appearance.

I was thinking of using Silkaflex as an adhesive and then Ambersil as a black sealant; any thoughts on this? I've not used the Silkaflex before, so am unsure if it will be easy enough to remove when I come to get the real repair done.

And on that note, I seem to remember some years ago some mention of a splitter protector/guard; did that ever progress? I think that I will be raising the ride height by 10mm in future as the best form of protection.

If and when my splitter gets wrecked, I'll probably replace with one like this:-

I know this photo has been posted previously, but I really do like the overall look of this car (apart from the wheels)

So this is a Plasticman style new front end job? Is that a metal/steel splitter?

Looks good. Looks expensive......

Sorry I don't know whose it is, when the time comes I will probably get Brendan at Concept Performance to look at it, but you're right, it does look expensive.

It looks OK - I assume that it is supposed to be a more efficient and effective splitter.

I want something that might give some more strength and protection to the splitter.

I think the only thing you can do is either heighten the splitter by shaving some off the bottom, or raising the ride height.

I think the splitter is already pretty strong (it gets hit quite a lot)!

Oh yes, Sikaflex is amazingly strong stuff!

Mine was damaged a while ago and repaired - but not very well I think, hence this time it just cracked along the length.

After the Silkaflex temporary repair I will make sure that the permanent repair is robust - a neighbour is a laminator for Sunseeker so if we can get to the back of it, he will do a good job.

Just scraped my splitter - and rear diffuser, unloading the Tam off the trailer from Central TVR.

Should have increased the ride height before loading/unloading...

Dammit!
