Anyone know which of these boot gas struts fit a 2002 Tamora

I have written the numbers down on my gas strut, but none seem to be even remotely close to the numbers in that list!
Cheers

Thanks Shep But I have already ordered the strut now, along with new hinges and SS bolts and washers - oh, and a Leven alloy petrol cap!
Watch with the filler cap, it sits slightly higher than the naff black one and might mark the underside of the boot lid and the edge of the capNJP said:
Shep could you send me the details of your supplier of shiny struts please?

Take it with you or read the code off the side of the old strut it has things like the load rating on it. Its very slightly different to the old unit but I have had no issues since fitting before Christmas

Very nice! I noticed just how immaculate your boot (well, the whole car, in truth) was when I seen you at Burghley.
What's that extra wire you have there, running parallel to the main boot loom, interior LED's?
If you mean the wire clipped to the boot hinge in the black plastic shroud, its the wires for the 3rd brake lightWhat's that extra wire you have there, running parallel to the main boot loom, interior LED's?

Sorry - didn't have glasses on! What I thought was an extra wire outside of the black plastic shroud is in fact the edge of the boot hinge bracket - so shiny it must have threw me!twinreal said:
Yes, that looks stunning.
Where did you get the hinges and the other bits ? Was it a complete set ?
Do you have the product number of the struts ?
The hinges & strikers for the boot and bonnet were new TVR items apart from the boot hinges which were £40/pair from a scrapper off an Escort mk6? Cab at a quarter of the price TVR wanted. I had Ashford Chroming in kent tripple chrome plate for me, cost about £300 all in and then another £20 for all new stainless bolts, nuts & washers. I will look the strut part number up for the strut tomorrow.Where did you get the hinges and the other bits ? Was it a complete set ?

My SGS strut arrived today, but with the wrong ball joints (too small), so I ordered a pair of stainless steel ones from struts direct..http://www.strutsdirect.co.uk/product_info.php/var...
OK, have put the new gas strut on - but as usual with me, not before I ballsed up, making a simple, straightforward job into a complete nightmare!
The new boot brackets/hinges arrived from RG, and I compared them to the ones on my car - completely different in almost every way, even the sockets for the struts were in completely different positions - so they're going back (and what you get for £50 for each side isn't worth it, TBH - one look at them I all I could think was that I was ripped off!)
So, I then removed the ball joint from the top end of the boot, no problem. Then it came to the lower ball socket removal. Wouldn't budge, tried grease, WD40, still nothing (Had already removed the securing wire). So I gave it a gentle yank whilst holding it with mole grips, and 'Snap'! the ball joint comes away, with the ball still inside it! FFS!
I then had no choice but to remove the boot hinge, fettle the remaining ball stub off flat, and drill a 4mm hole. Thankfully, the new SS ball joints I ordered just happened to have the end fittings already attached, so I could use that, which seems to work.
These cars do seem to like to fight you every inch of the way.....
