sent the tam to Dave the trimmer for the final instalment of the trim. (the dash sections) he has already done the doors/seats etc which i fitted at home
but needed the car for a few days to do the dash as the screen needs to be removed/replaced.

its only been a few days......i keep going into the garage for no good reason.....resorted to tiling the laundry room floor at the weekend...think i need a "fix"

Know how you feel, my car has been away more often than not of late.

Got mine back now, though, and heading back to the garage in a min to continue with polishing the Tam with my new DA polisher I bought for her - used it on the wife's car first though, just to practice....

I've never used one of those da thingies, only a orbital one but its a bit heavy (used it for cutting back gel coat on cobras)

are they easy to use?

Still quite heavy, so you still get a decent workout when polishing! I got this one:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004GU30AC/ref=...

So many surface scratches on the bodywork, but I guess that's to be expected when taking it to multiple workshops to have stuff done.

They are all polished out now, works a treat - but still hard work!

the front of the tam has a number of stone chips, so will get a fettle sometime, so its a perfect opportunity for me to try one of those things and get used to it on paint thats going to be replaced .

just got a few pics from DTT, the screen was bonded in with "excess" mastic, and was also a tad too low, which meant that the mastic was covering bits of the paintwork it shouldn't. makes sense as there was always a small gap near the front of the roof where the rubber didnt seem long enough. only 3/4 mm but now i know why

the dash and pod leather is being replaced. the mis match is because I've used a friends pod (actually his pod, seats, door panels etc) in my car whilst Dave has been doing some of the work on the items when he can, so I've been able to usin the car

after removing this seemed a better idea to properly refinish with a paint around the scuttle top. I'm not unhappy as this area didnt have the best paint finish in the first place.

this is with the new black leather

Daves painter also refinished the troublesome screen riveted panels

still a bit undecided to leave the carpets or replace them......nothing really wrong, but black would be better I think

I bought this, http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004GU30AC/ref=... along with the pads that are shown in the 'Frequently Bought Together' section, and then I bought this package:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DD51VRA/ref=...

Because it had everything needed to do a full job. Seems to work well, even for a complete numpty like me, as the car now looks like new! But, as I said, it was hard work and I spent three days of 1.5-2 hours each session on it.

Looking nice Steve - I agree on the black carpets though.
Daves painter is rick Collinson from the workshop next door - Salford service centre, and it's who I'll be getting to strip to gel coat and respray my car when I get the legals out the way from the piss poor paint job I currently have! He's done loads of TVRs and has a Cerb in at the moment body off and stripped right back to glass smile

yes, i spoke with rick about what i wanted, and it became immediately apparent he knew what he was doing with the disassembly ...for example removing the wipers on a tam results in the fuse board falling off onto the steering column.

he did the seat backs above too so i was happy to let him carry on with the screen
