After enquiring about the standard OEM cats from HHC, they came back to me and informed me that they only have the larger bore cats left.

I email Dom and asked him if it was possible to fit these to my Tam when I have the 4.3, and what would the extra cost be.

he emailed me back saying he'd do the modifications FoC when I have the upgrade - so I have just ordered the cats!

Just need to save a little longer for the 4.3 now....

We're only joking Chris, I'm quite enjoying the changes and enthusiasm you've brought to the forum. Plus it makes me feel better knowing that someone has an even worse case of upgraditis than I do!

hehe

I didn't think that was possible without a load more money thrown at it - so I was/am pleasantly surprised that I could buy 2 new OEM cats for £618, and that's the only outlay! (providing I have the 4.3 of course..)

Am wondering if that would help eek a little more power with the larger bore - not that I'd notice.

I have also lost 3 stone from the beginning of this year - so that should also help performance.. hehe

To be honest I would have bought generic cats at half that price.. if you want to hit the headline power figures youll need to remove the cats. I havent checked but my suspicion is there are very few producers of these items.

As for the free exhaust modification.. that should take around 3 seconds a pipe, on a press with a pipe flaring tool.

Think of this like a mini myth busters session biggrin

I didn't know that - I don't know what's involved.

What I do know is that I don't want de-cat pipes, those in concert with a sports back box would be way too noisy, and spoil the fun of driving for me - I don't mind sacrificing a few horses for that, I thought new cats would be a good compromise.

At that price your close to getting some sports cats. Although racetech advertise there Tuscan S cats as 200 cell.

I wouldn't be afraid of using non oem parts if you know who makes the part. A number of the original parts suppliers weren't amazing.

I think the real thing here is there's only about one place creating exhausts for these things, that being ACT (via JP) if it were a Porsche/Audi R8/Lambo/Ferrari youd have Tubi, Capristo, Akropovic, ArmyTrix etc etc where they put some time in not only making them flow better but actually making them sound better.

I did consider sports cats, but they are £300 more than the OEM cats, and I wasn't sure if they'd add more noise to what is to me, already borderline acceptable limits...
