Mate - I share your pain. My wife hates my car as it is, even more so with a service next week and knowing the cost.
Same here, I find it hard to justify the thing, with the lack of use. She will only go in it now as long as I don`t overtake anybody or "go mad"
Might as well have a Moggy Minor convertible biggrin

It would be nice to know which of the ACT hoses 'kinks' and where. Or is it all of them?

I didn't notice any kinking when I fitted my set of ACT hoses. Does the engine conversion change the entry points for the hoses or relocate the engine in some way?

To be blunt, I'd expect a clear explaination and identification of which hoses are effected from one of the leading SP experts rather than vageries.
Thinking about it the instructions with the hoses say that one of them may need trimming. I think from the oil cooler to block. Clearly if you ignore instructions like that they won't fit. If that's the case then why not just sell the kinked hose only.

smile At least I'm not the only one. She's convinced it's jinxed. Engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild and clutch, accident in 2013 which led to a shocking full respray that I'm having sorted next month elsewhere. Plus the thousands I've spent over the last few years...
She won't passenger in it unless she really has to and then I'm not allowed to accelerate hard, overtake or 'have fun'!

My wife is exactly the same - if I say that we'll use my car, she'll say, "OK, As long as you don't go mad"! Yeah, just spent thousands on the car only for me 'to go mad'! hehe

My Tam is just known as The Money Pit to her.

Although I can see where she's coming from....

IIRC all of them needed a bit of trimming when I fitted them. When I collected the hoses I weas told one may need trimming. I just took that to mean they all may need trimming.

I've been made aware of a suggestion on this thread, that ACT hoses may have fitting issues.
As some of you will know we have been supplying Silicone hoses for TVR for 13 years, sold many thousand sets, supplying just about every specialist, we have spent a small fortune on tooling, every model covered from 1980, we pride ourselves in attention to detail and getting things right, those that know me will also know that if there is a problem, I would put it right, but I’m not aware of such problems.
I don’t intend to open a dialogue here, because it is very difficult for me to monitor, as we are in the middle of a move to new premises, but feel free to email me if you have any issues with our hoses.
Sorry for the advert, but you’ll appreciate that I need to counter negative suggestions which can affect my business.

Chris crazy question but When were you told these hoses kink. Wednesdsy. You have no engine in your engine bay. You'd only be connecting the new rad to the water tank or the oil cooler. The oil cooler should be out for flushing. Were they trial fitted to your old engine or something.

Hi Tim,
I don’t think any of us have any issues or concerns over your products. Moreso those of us with warrantied rebuilds from Dom are a little concerned due to the comments made to/by Chris concerning the possible kinking and the affect on any warranty offered by Dom should we fit them. I’m sure it’s likely a misunderstanding or miscommunication but it would be good to have proper clarification for those of us with a rebuild and your silicon hoses.

It is a little disappointing - I know there are literally hundreds of TVR owners who have used the ACT hoses as an upgrade to their TVR, I never thought for a second there'd ever be a problem. I haven't heard one negative comment regarding the hoses and, I would have thought it is standard practice to make aftermarket hoses slightly longer to take into account any slight differences between configurations. It is also disappointing having to pay for what is essentially the same thing twice - I am on a tight budget as it is. I haven't got a bottomless pit of money - even and extra £2-400 is a lot to me! All I want is the best for my Tamora.

It is a shame, as all other aspects I am happy with, especially the engine! It marrs what should be a very exciting experience on something I have dreamed of and looked forward to having since I bought my Tamora.

After the experience I had last year with my re-trim, my wife said that she doesn't want anymore large sums spent on my car, she said everyone seems out to 'rip you off'.
It did take a lot of convincing, as you can imagine, to justify taking a loan out for the rebuild from one of the most respected builders in the TVR circle, but my wife, bless her, knew how much I wanted this, and agreed I could have it. When hiccups happen, I can feel a bit of a fool at times..

Full support here Tim. I've had two sets of hoses from you in the last five years of TVR ownership as well as numerous other parts. I've never had a problem with any aspect of them from price to fitting.
I can fully appreciate that a few misplaced comments on here can have a huge effect on a company and I hope this doesn't effect your reputation or business.
