I've been made aware of a suggestion on this thread, that ACT hoses may have fitting issues.
As some of you will know we have been supplying Silicone hoses for TVR for 13 years, sold many thousand sets, supplying just about every specialist, we have spent a small fortune on tooling, every model covered from 1980, we pride ourselves in attention to detail and getting things right, those that know me will also know that if there is a problem, I would put it right, but I’m not aware of such problems.
I don’t intend to open a dialogue here, because it is very difficult for me to monitor, as we are in the middle of a move to new premises, but feel free to email me if you have any issues with our hoses.
Sorry for the advert, but you’ll appreciate that I need to counter negative suggestions which can affect my business.
Tim
have your hoses on two cars and never had any problem.
as every car is different sometimes you need to trim here and there......

what i don´t get is this warranty debate. if there is a paper that says i have
warranty under this and that conditions fine. if there is none and all this
is spoken word..... so be it.... anybody seen that paper ?

I cannot afford to void the warranty - I am at the mercy of the engine builder.

Chris, I totally agree, having paid for an independent warranty when I first bought my Tuscan, I quickly released how the caveats are buried in the fine print..

Chris I'm sure someone will take the ACT pipes off your hands at the price you paid or marginally less; as has already been said repeatedly they are a quality product..............if I hadn't taken delivery of mine last week I would have had them.

Cheers smile

Tim from ACT said that he'll do a trade-in for the hoses if and when I order anything else from him, which is highly likely..

"You must ensure that you use unleaded fuel octane rating RON 97/98 at all times,..."

Not trying to start a debate here, but if I would fill her up with Ultimate 102 the warranty would be void as well. At least this wording leaves no room for this option.
But okay, if you're in for a Powers rebuild, you're obliged to fulfill all requirements if you don't want to void your warranty. If your're not up to that, don't go to Powers. Fair enough.
Just saying...

As above. Just speculating (as I don't have one) but I imagine Dom's warranty is offered by him but under-written by a third party who undoubtedly worded it. So anything that seems "unreasonable" is probably the work of a faceless broker (actually - possibly my brother, thinking about it) not Dom. Insurance only works when you can quantify the risk. Never would I expect Dom to settle warranty claims out of his own pocket - the business could potentially collapse overnight. Dom is a top bloke who often works unreasonable hours to keep us on the road and thanks to him for organising any warranty on his most expensive work for us.

I'll put my supporter's flag away now wink

I thought Dom has always said that he, himself, supports the warranty he offers which is why he was always so vocal about it (and backing up words with actions)?

I may be wrong, it's been known to happen... wink

May be. I have a great propensity for being wrong too biggrin And as I say, I don't have one so I was only speculating.

You have plenty to shout about, great results with the rebuild. biggrin I've gone down a similar route, just awaiting exhaust modifications before it goes on the RR again.

Had a quick skim through the T's&C's but can't see where it says it would be voided if external suppliers hoses were fitted? I can see that they and other ancillaries are excluded if the warranted engine goes pop ie won't be replaced foc during a rebuild.
Assuming it is something I've missed though, should the purchaser have checked this prior to buying? Probably but with a quality product like this from ACT I think the emphasis should be on the engine builder to justify excluding them - if of course it wasn't a misunderstanding which I'm sure all those following this thread are hoping.

Bottom line is, every business wants to make more money and increase their margins, on that basis you would not want customers bringing in third party products that you could supply yourself...imho

Higher the octane safer the motor this is covered under Powers Warranty, i personally under-write engine failures out of my own pocket, there are no insurers involved, please take this on board any bolt on goodies that are not Powers proven and tested parts will invalidate engine warranties....
