Have you got a new badge plinth too? I don't think it will fix securely or look right stuck to the original cast badge
No - I wasn't sure how to fix it. So a new plinth would be the best option? The sticky pad on the reverse is quite soft and thick, about 2mm deep, I assumed this was to ensure the original raised lettering would 'sink' into the sticky pad?

Don't think so, they sell a plinth designed for the resin badges that is recessed. Only a few quid but requires the old plinth to be removed by removing the 2 nuts accessed via the flap in the boot under where the boot light is.
Ah, OK, do you know where/who sell the special plinth?alex_gray255 said:
You can trim them down to fit. Done it in the past with a grinder
OK, if I need to, I can do that. Just ordered this plinth:http://www.racetechdirect.co.uk/b1216-tvr-car-part...

you should have some of those bigger bore manifolds fitted while its in
I've seen the price of them I may have to get ACT's big bore exhaust system for when the car goes back for its service, though. Couldn't really stretch to buying it with the 4.3...

Chris - Did they say why the ACT hoses were no good? I have a set due to be fitted to my 4.3 next week as part of my service.
The email I got said that ACT hoses 'kink', so it's advisable to install the Power's version instead! (But I have never seen Power silicon hoses advertised, otherwise I would have got them in the first instance!)I am a little pissed off with this, as the ACT hoses are not cheap (and the rad wasn't, too, TBH..)
Didn't think I'd have to spend money on yet another hose kit and another rad! What's that, another £800 at least? The parts are expensive enough buying once - but having to buy the same things twice....!
I will ring up tomorrow to confirm.
I was just about to go out the door when I recieved the emails from Dom, so couldn't really do anything earlier...

I found there was a lot of excess hose on the ACT hoses that needed trimmimg off to fit - but then again given the variances in each build there has to be some 'float' added to patterned parts.
I hope the Aaron rad fits as I have one to fit.
I'll find out this Saturday if its dry.
I was informed that the radiator supplied (Aaron) doesn't fit unless they grind loads of fibreglass away from the chassis area to fit!I hope the Aaron rad fits as I have one to fit.

Bit of a 'mare - not like I'm asking them to fit stuff I bought off EBay!

I bloody hope this is wrong as I've just bought both and are due to be fitted next week!
I was/am very surprised at the email I got, TBH. I bought what I knew were very popular upgrades for Tams/T350's, as most on here seem to have them!Good job I didn't order the ACT big bore exhaust system, that would have probably been deemed no good....

My first thought would be any warranty implication resulting from telling Dom to fit the ACT hoses. I'd be very clear about having everything in writing. I do find it interesting that Power are offering a "deal" on the engine rebuild, but all of a sudden, at this stage in the game, they are expecting you to buy Power's own parts ahead of ACT...
I know The ACT hoses were a birthday present from my wife, bought last year, I then bought the ACT SS hoses and Aaron rad (and the Power's clutch, flywheel and slave bundle), so I wouldn't have to buy them when I had the 4.3 - that way I knew exactly what I was paying for.
That worked out well....
As you say, it's the warranty that's important when spending this amount of money.

Engine discount...
yes, I got the 'Group Buy' deal, the 4.3 including injectors and heavy duty starter motor for £8,400.Couldn't really afford it right now, so I/we took a loan out to cover it and take advantage of the £1k discount. I usually save up for this sort of thing..
My wife already took some convincing (and even now, she isn't 100% convined as it is), imagine what she'd be like if I have to tell her I need to spend another £1k on stuff we already bought, worse, something she bought me for my birthday! And I couldn't really blame her.
OK, I rang Dom, and he said he can get the rad to fit.
Apparantly, the problem with the rads is that there are three slightly different versions for the Tam alone (so I was told), whereas the Radtec versions take the slight differences into account.
The ACT silicon hoses do not fit, I was told, so Power's version are on the car. I have been promised some pics of the build later, I shall post them on here.

You never know Chris, maybe one day you'll do something to your Tam that goes smoothly with no issues!! Hope you get sorted.
- That would be nice. It's a hard enough decision spending such sums on a 14 year old car, even harder convincing the wife. When stuff like this happens, you cannot help but wonder if you're doing the right thing. It leaves a sour taste when it should be a great experience...Zippee said:
Mate - I share your pain. My wife hates my car as it is, even more so with a service next week and knowing the cost.
On the subject of the hoses, was Dom stating they wouldn't fit the new engine as they were already trimmed or that the ACT hoses in general were no good?
Dom was a bit vague on the hose subject - he just told me they didn't fit! I am not the expert, who am I to argue...On the subject of the hoses, was Dom stating they wouldn't fit the new engine as they were already trimmed or that the ACT hoses in general were no good?
Was so pissed off yesterday, partly at the thought of telling my wife I may have to spend another £1k on parts we already bought.
You have no idea how much grovelling I had to do to get her to agree to take a loan out for that car!
