Thank you!

My problem now is that I have so much work to do, so no chance to drive it during the week. I asked my wife if she wanted to use it for getting to and from work (as she rarely goes above 3k revs at the best of times!), but now she said she's too scared to drive it because of the cost, and too worried about pranging it, after sepending all of that money!

I will get some new tyres sorted for when it has its run-in service, I think May would be a good time, as that would coincide with the MOT. New tyres, a full geo, suspension raised slighly and perhaps those bigger brake discs.

Ater that, I guess the only other 'performance' upgrade would be the CR box - and that lovely CF airbox for that icing on the cake engine bay aesthetic..

However, that's all in the future - for now, I have some new French doors to pay for.....and a car to enjoy..

Chris

Just in case your rear end does get a bit wayward you could always get on of these fitted its not in TVR tradition of no traction control but I am only too pleased to help you spend more money yikes

Thank you! It has been both very exciting and scary at the same time - I have never spent so much on an upgrade to an existing car, and a 13 year old car at that!

I found it was OK thinking/dreaming about it, but when I think of how much it all costs…..I don’t care! hehe

Forgot to ask Dom if the car is dyno'd when it has it's post run-in service - anyone had this?

Chris,

I noted on the 'tyre' thread you're thinking of upgrading the tyres. Although 'standard', Tamy's road behaviour was greatly improved by fitting 225/40/18s alround. The Sag has the same sized tyres front and back. This, for me, is enough to follow suit.

Yeah, I plan to get the Vreds and 40 profile all-round for when it goes in for its service, so the ride height can be adjusted at the same time. smile

Mine wasn't dyno'd at the running in service, though I'm sure if you ask Dom he'll do it for you.

Chris, A word to the wise - or fellow 4.3 owner. Last year when I completed my running-in late Apr, the first date offered for the 1st Service was in July or August!!

I would suggest you "plan well ahead" as Dom's workshop gets so booked up in May, Jun & Jul, that you should "pre-arrange" something with Dom now??

Did you say something about France in the Summer??

Good luck

Cheers for the heads up - I shall email Dom and book in the service and MOT for the end of May now, rather than later..

Chris, you will need to get at least a few 1000 on the new engine before it can be dyno'ed. It needs to settle in

Hi Alex - that's what I thought. But when reading the threads in the S6 forum, I thought I seen a few posts where the engine's were being dyno'd shortly after being rebuilt/upgraded. But I guess the owner's may have already put on quite a few miles since the dyno...

Chris

As far as I know they don,t dyno a 4.3 at the 1000 miles service but I could be wrong all they do is carry out a 1000 miles service I think, on the 4.5 they carry out a 1000 miles service which basically is change the thin oil to a semi synthetic oil the same as the 4.3 but they remap it to optimise the engine and dyno it, but just ask them they will tell you and as other shave said I am sure they will dyno it for you, here is my dyno results biggrin:

Cheers gary smile

Good results!

Silly me, I just assumed they'd do an engine dyno reading for each rebuild...

Chris, As Billynobrakes says theres no standard dyno on the 4.3. The 4.5 is dyno tuned to fully adjust the map but IIRC the 4.3 doesn’t require it.
How are you finding it? I found the 3500 rev limit to not really be much of a problem but I still got the 1000 miles out the way in 2 weeks smile
Just wait till you get that service done and you first floor it – Doms words when you leave that workshop will be along the lines of ‘Just go out and rag it – if it breaks I’ll fix it’ my best advice would be to heed those words and put a grin on your face….

I haven't been able to drive it since I bought it back on Wednesday frown - way too much work (work from home..). But plan to take it out over the weekend.

I have emailed Dom to book the service for the end of May, and asked again what oil for the run-in, as I forgot (was too excited to really listen on Wednesday!) Is it 5W40 semi for the run-in oil?

It's a basic mineral oil (can't remember the grade). Shame you're not closer as I have a couple of litres in the garage I'll never use. Mine used none of it during the run in period.

Cheers, Tony. I wouldn't imagine it will use a lot, if at all, due to being all freshly sealed and tolerences.

I do have my Tamora 4.3 badge to put on - although I'll probably find a way of messing that up... hehe Wil have a look at it tomorrow...

Pleased for you Chris. Just remember the other thing that will kill your new engine is letting it labour smile

Keep it between 2 and 3K and vary the revs. Enjoy.
