TVR Power 4.3 here I come - great deal!

Am trying to use the Tam every day, but still only managed to put on another 150 miles since picking her up.
The engine still feels very very tight, a lot of stuttering and juddering from time to time, and today, when coming home from picking my step-son up, it actually stalled when I was changing down to 2nd on a hill, with loads of cars behind me - how embarrassing! I can just imagine what they thought of me and my car as they drove past....
(Dom did say this may happen...)

Didn't it just burst back into life by dipping the clutch then re-engaging? TBH, we had the music so loud, I didn't even realise the engine had cut out! I just switched it off and back on again - but felt a right pillock! I was doing about 35mph before changing into 2nd...chris watton said:

A 4.3 is most definitely on my shopping list but with my car having had a top-end rebuild from Power I can't justify the outlay just yet! I've been tempted to sell mine ( even though I only bought it last summer) as I've had a job relocation, but I know I'd regret it down the line.

At the moment, I'm not really feeling the extra capacity from the 4.3 - it honestly feels little different from my 3.6 (apart from the stuttering and stalling..). But the new engine is very tight right now and new parts need bedding in, and Im sure that once loosened up, it'll be a lot of fun.
I sold my first Tamora in 2007, and I did regret it - much more than I thought I would. When we came back to the UK from spending 3 years living and working in Italy, I bought another the first chance I got - there is still very little, if anything, for the price that I'd rather have, even after all these years!
You can imagine the pain I felt as I drove my wife's MGF through the Alps, instead of my Tamora!
Just cancelled my insurance with Admiral and am now with Mannings. All upgrades declared and guaranteed value with 5k miles limit per year for £460 – a little more than the £180 I was paying, but it’s not really the same car anymore…
ETA - Spoke to Dom about rough running, he reckons it may be a dodgy HT lead. Am taking the Tam back up to him on Wednesday.

I emailed Dom yesterday, asking about the poor running of the engine. He thinks it may be a dodgy HT lead. I am taking tha Tam back up to Powers tomorrow to put it back on the computer - and have new leads if that's the problem. Dom said it will be something stupid that is causing the problem.
I should have bought new leads and throttle pots at the same time as buying the other stuff...
So, hopefully, after tomorrow, the Tam should be more fun to drive and feel more like a 4.3.

I have been watching your threads about it cutting out, that is not right at all, plus you have said you can not feel the difference between the 3.6 and the 4.3 again that is not right, no doubt Dom will sort it out, tell him if he doesn't Del Boy will be and sort the problem out

You're right. I have read every post regarding the 4.3/4.5 upgrade, and no-one has mentioned poor running during the running-in period. I am stone cold sure Dom will sort it tomorrow. I think I'll go first thing in the morning. Just not feeling the extra shove from the increased torque right now.
My dad, bless him, when we picked the car up last week told me the 'lumpiness' was due to 'hotter cams in the race engine'

Best way to feel the difference is put it in 5th at 1200 rpm and floor it – you won’t be pushed back but you will feel that torque…

Chris
It sounds electrical to me can't be much
The engine will loosen up but you should feel the difference straight away

Ouch I should mention to not do it to an engine being run in though so as not to labour it too much.

the throttle bodies. For some reason, they were all out. Still have a heating issue, but
Dom will be looking at this when it gets a 5.0 rebuild done.

Am sure it'll be sorted tomorrow. I had my throttle bodies rebushed and balanced by Dom a few months back.the throttle bodies. For some reason, they were all out. Still have a heating issue, but

Somehow, I knew you'd have to have the 5 litre...

My 4 litre Tamora is back at Dom's tomorrow for it's post rebuild service. It's been running smoother than ever since the engine job.
Oh, that is definitely true. The rebuild improved the engine no end....shame you can't do the gearbox so easily...
but that is a story for another day (once I have had the paddleshift system put in)
