Hmm, been advised that the Aaron Tamora rad I bought doesn't fit unless a lot of fibreglass is grinded away, and apparantly, the ACT silicon hoses are no good.

I have never seen Power's silicon hoses advertised, I just assumed most used the ACT hoses?
I bloody hope this is wrong as I've just bought both and are due to be fitted next week!

I was/am very surprised at the email I got, TBH. I bought what I knew were very popular upgrades for Tams/T350's, as most on here seem to have them!

Good job I didn't order the ACT big bore exhaust system, that would have probably been deemed no good....

Yep exactly my thinking on the rad and hoses.
As for the exhaust I wouldn't do anything til you've had listen to cars at Burghley, also there are many other specialist exhaust companies around the country, it seems that the TVR community rarely look beyond JP and ACT

My first thought would be any warranty implication resulting from telling Dom to fit the ACT hoses. I'd be very clear about having everything in writing. I do find it interesting that Power are offering a "deal" on the engine rebuild, but all of a sudden, at this stage in the game, they are expecting you to buy Power's own parts ahead of ACT...

I know frown

The ACT hoses were a birthday present from my wife, bought last year, I then bought the ACT SS hoses and Aaron rad (and the Power's clutch, flywheel and slave bundle), so I wouldn't have to buy them when I had the 4.3 - that way I knew exactly what I was paying for.

That worked out well....

As you say, it's the warranty that's important when spending this amount of money.

Think I may have to give Dom a shout (and I'm sure Tim at ACT will have something to say on this) as I can't risk fitting them if they are going to void my warranty.

I think there's definitely more to it than meets the eye. I've never heard a bad word said about the quality of ACT's products. I hope you both get the answers you are looking for. smile

void your warranty due to a pair of silicone hoses ? laugh maybe a porker would have been the better car in those cases rolleyes

does it void the warranty if you use shell v power instead of aral ultimate ?

Hope so.

I do have the emails here that say what I have written. I have only wrote what I've been told.

As I said, I will ring up tomorrow and ask what the problems with the rad and ACT hoses are, and what happens to the (all important) warranty if I don't go for Power's versions...

If the weather is good on Saturday I'll look at the rad - I also have the two stainless steel pipes to fit as well.

As the rad is the same size and shape (I assume) as the standard rad I don't see why it should need mods to fit.

Are you being obtuse deliberately? If Dom is adamant that ACT hoses kink, and could hence cause cooling issues, why would he happily fit them to a car under his warranty?

The kit from ACT is excellent. I'm fairly choosy in the bits I use and the time I bought my kit I know Tim sourced top notch marine grade jubilee clips, which had the inner ring to protect the clamping surface.

Let's make this easier then.

Who on here has the ACT tamora hose kit?

Would they be able to take pictures of said hoses?

have the ACT on two cars and the cheapest chinese silicone around on other cars and never had any problems at all.

what worries me more is this kind of warranty debate...... take a look at the paper that says warranty void if.....
if there is none nuff said wink

Surely Dom has already fitted new engines to cars with ACT pipes, after all they are a popular upgrade.........or have owners had to have them removed before fitting??????

I sincerely hope it's some kind of misunderstanding, after all, I don't want to get on the wrong side of anyone, least of all the people who will be servicing my P&J for the next few years.

As we all know, what I bought isn't any old EBay tat..

Half worried here. Just got the act hoses and a Al rad, but my rad came from tvr parts, now somewhat reasurringly made by radtec... we'll see about that in March...
Im guessing the hoses either fit or kink because not 'formed' right for the particular car, but assuming they wont spontaneously kink themselves at some future date?

I've bought oil hose from tvrp that was too long and didnt fit without kinking, so go figure... these cars are apparently all different, or stuff isnt made right...

Get some pics of the kinked hose and put them up here for other owners with ACT hoses to compare. Sure Tim would be interested if there was a real problem.

Otherwise the magical bulk buy discount will evaporate.

I wonder if the hoses that kink haven't been trimmed to fit?
