Pick my Tam up tomorrow (although it's ready right now).

All done, new tyres, geo, ride height changed, MOT and post run in service done.

The intermittent stuttering was due to a faulty lambda. (Knew I should have asked to have these changed with the engine upgrade..)

Will be interesting to see how it drives and rides on the new rubber and suspension set up tomorrow.

Got my Tam back home now, after picking her up this morning.

In a word - brilliant! Engine feels very strong, pulls like a train. Certainly more than enough power for me to handle.

What helped was changing the lambda and fine tuning the throttle bodies. On the handling side, I had the new tyres fitted along with a full geo. I always felt that the handling was never as good as my first Tam, now I know why - the settings for the right side, front and back were way out. Handles like a dream now. Plus they adjusted the new exhaust, so no more bad resonance on the overrun.

I was advised not to go too mental for a couple of hundred miles due to the new tyres, so I was still careful, but it is so planted, and that power!

I swear, if I was disappointed, I'd say, but am still grinning from ear to ear after enjoying the drive home! The engine feels and sounds great. Some have described it as 'unburstable', and I think they're right.

It is also worth mentioning that they adjusted my handbrake, took the rear pads out and cleaned the discs, and painted my PAS brackets for no extra cost. The bill was half what I was expecting.

So, that concludes my experience with my 4.3 upgrade (along with a few other gubbins). Very happy and can only highly recommend if you're thinking about it.

Cheers smile

ETA - This is the Tam with its new tyres and ride height. I was told it would have been better to go with 40 profile for the rear, instead of 35..

These are the 35/255 tyres:

Hi Chris,

After doing power checks online the 4.3 punches at the level of the 4.5ajp so with the mods already done thats whats going in my cerb, so very pleased to read your thoughts.

I'll also be converting to electro PAS.

Now I just need a rear lip spoiler for the cerb... very glad to hear you havent found the limit as I cant see why going bigger without traction would ever be usable on the roads (without going into a hedge backwards).

I'll be speaking to Dom at my service this year... No service just a rebuild lol wink

I think you'll love it. I have been driving mine a lot, I just find any excuse to go out in it now! (Although not today, it's pissing down..)

Nope I am going for the 3.6L rebuild, I just couldn't justify the extra money, especially as I need to sort quite a few other parts of the car out.

Still looking forwards to finally driving it biggrin

Let us know how it turns out. You only seem to hear of those that have been upgraded as opposed to a standard rebuild.....

Be interesting to know what improvement you get in running.

I can vouch for a standard 4.0 rebuild of a speed six cerbera from power. I had it done to my dads one for him and the difference was night and day. Had the decat EPROM too but my dad often calls me just to say how it is running better than even when the car was new. 30kish miles now. He also now uses any excuse to be in it.

Powers rebuilds are rock solid! And so enjoyable to drive/cope with.

Hope that helps mate

Thanks, just interested as you never seem to hear.

Mine was done by powers a few years back in previous ownership, so have no idea of before and afters.

Cheers.

I'm another happy customer of a 4 litre rebuild (Cerb), almost 3 years ago now.

Today was the first time I really opened the taps on my Tamora.

I had a drive by myself today, with no wife next to me screaming once I went over 4k revs.

All I can say at this point is the Tamora is now a lot quicker than my (fairly limited) experience can handle around the twisties. Although, thanks to the new tyres (now scrubbed in) and geo (and maybe diff), I did end up taking a few corners quicker than I felt comfortable with (not realising how fast I was going), but the Tam hung on.

Because I prefer the twisties, I never managed to get above 6k rpm, but once passed 3.5k, it does go ballistic and there is no let up in acceleration. It was like an amusement park ride! Second and third gears do the real damage, each bend arriving much quicker than before in the 3.6, without a doubt.

I loved the drive so much that, when I arrived at the junction to go home, I thought, nah, I want to do that all over again, and I did!

The only fly in the ointment was brake balance - when braking hard, I really had to fight the wheel to keep it in a straight line!

Apart from that, brilliant, and fast enough, even too fast to utilise all the power, for me. I really need to invest in some track days!

Well I collected my Tam after its 3.6L full engine rebuild, very happy with everything and it feels strong upto the 3.5k limit. It's very nice to drive it finally and feels good in the twisties. 900 miles to go until I can properly open it up wink

Cheers Jon

Nice one, Jon smile Love that colour! (I actually bought a new screen wash bottle and pump, to help tidy up the engine bay! hehe )

I meant to post the results of my geo up, but had forgotten. No wonder my Tam never felt as planted as my first (It does now!). I had the new tyres and geo done along with the post run-in service:

Was that bad?
