I've made Oli an offer so fingers crossed he'll reply this morning. It'd be nice to bring one back home, and it is very similar to my Tuscan in terms of spec so I'd sell that over the summer.
Good luck with your offer. If this car stays around much longer I suspect a planned house move will get postponed.MrChips said:
Weird, where did E300's post from this morning go to?

You'd better get it accepted If not I'll be having it if not sold end of the month. Need to sell some shares down but at the limit of this years CGT allowance I've made Oli an offer so fingers crossed he'll reply this morning. Deleted it hoping thread would go quiet to give me a chance to get over to Germany I've made Oli an offer so fingers crossed he'll reply this morning. It'd be nice to bring one back home, and it is very similar to my Tuscan in terms of spec so I'd sell that over the summer.

Looks a lot of Sagaris for the money, does the price reflect car being in Germany?

Also looks like the Fernhurst Sagaris that was factory standard has sold for a lot more money, are factory standard cars the most sort after?
Was the Fenhurst one a grey colour? But actually called a shade of blue?http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

Sold for £10,000 more than the 4.3 Sagaris that's for sale in Germany.
The difference is that the 4.3 has over twice the miles, the warranty isn't transferrable and it's had some modifications, the other one is standard without mods etc. It's a great Sag there is no doubting that but low mileage original cars will always command higher prices. I thought about this myself tbh, it's a cracking car, but I also doubt I could afford a respray of any description on it given the reflex paints are very expensive! i guess it would be cheaper to bring back ollies sag to a standard setup instead of buying an overpriced one in the uk currently Edited by ShiDevil on Saturday 21st March 08:41

Seems like the overpriced UK ones are selling. The German car does look to be very well looked after.Edited by anonymous-user on Saturday 21st March 09:50
Sorry guys,
but how far away from a standard car is my Sagaris ? There are no modifications to the bodywork or the interior. All the original parts are here, so in half a day you could bring back the car to 'standard specification'. The Original Spider Wheels, the original exhaust, even the original dampers are all here. But who wants 9 year old Bilsteins, if he can have nearly new Nitrons ? Is there anyone who decides for the old plastic airbox over the carbon one from ACT ? Do you really want to hassle around with the bad original Lambda setup when you can have a reliable one ?
And I think a nearly new 4.3 is always better then an old 4.0 original engine. And you don't see any difference from the outside.
And sorry for the clean and tidy engine compartement and underbody, which isn't original. Original seems to be dirty and rotten.
So I think the discussion about original spec or not doesn't fit for my car.

have seen it in the flesh several times and was wondering if olli drives it or just polishes it ?
paint A1 engine bay A1 chassis A1.... interior cant remember.
spending more than that on a sag it must be factory fresh and still then you would have
to deal with the niggles they put in.... here things are fully sorted.
@ollie
get some engine bay pictures online

Sorry, but low mileage is absolutely no argument to buy a TVR. Low mileage means the car was not be driven as it should be or it has spended more time standing in a showroom or by a collector. If you buy one of these cars to DRIVE it, higher mileages are a warranty that all is sorted.
I saw Ollis car a few times and it is one of the best sorted TVRs i have ever seen.
If i would be after a sag i would go for that one. And above live in the UK, it would be stupid not to go for it.

I think I have seen this car on a number of occasion, and I think followed it on an event run out at Rutland. If it is the same ...It is stunning. Wheels are very nice, engine bay is beautifully prepared and the rear cans look very nice compared to the originals. Nitrons, you can't go wrong. It will cost a significant amount more to get a car to this level of quality.
Re the keep it original discussion. The value in having an original (last of the great TVRs) will be fully realised in 20 years or so. Then they will be fetching very good money. However when the TVR books are written in 20 years there will be a section on modifications. At that time I believe there will be a small number of recognised companies that will feature ....most of which will have connections with the original factory or a racing pedigree. History will tell us that those cars can fetch even more money. This is not modification by a bloke in a garage with a Halfords catalogue and a rivet gun, this is recognised quality companies.
If I was after a Sag...I would be out to see this in Germany and enjoying a run out on an unrestricted Autobahn

Absolutely agree, give me a 100,000 mile car ever day of the week LOL. I saw Ollis car a few times and it is one of the best sorted TVRs i have ever seen.

Low mileage means it has a good chance of it being as close to new as you can get, if that's what you want.
There is no warranty that a higher mileage car is sorted and the last crop of TVRs generally wanted nothing doing when they went back for first or second service beyond the actual service so don't really buy that point.
Opinion aside, the car in Germany looks to be a very good example at sensible money (care of the exchange rates at the moment). One thing to consider is that buying from abroad, you may find that don't have quite the same consumer rights.
At the price of this car if there are no skeletons on detailed inspection, it still seems like it would be worth a punt.
