Back from the Rhineland
Discussion
A new thread to mark the notorious Reflex Charcoal Sag’s return to the motherland.
I first clapped eyes on the Sagaris in the flesh at MPH back in 2003 and was blown away by the car's sheer aggressiveness. I knew I had to own this car. A student at the time, this was just a pipe dream but fast forward 12 years, Oli’s beast pops up in the classifieds and the rest is now history :-)
The drive back from Rhineland on a crisp sunny Friday morning with miles upon miles of derestricted Autobahn ahead is surely how Carlsberg would do picking up your new TVR! With the Nurburgring only an hour down the road and some absolutely stunning pothole-free freshly tarmaced B roads, this neck of the woods is a petrolhead's utopia. Stopping for gas was an event in itself trying to get away from the hordes of admirers but the language barrier mattered not… the noise of the beast and its hair raising looks did the talking.
After getting back to the UK safe and sound I set about my first clean and general poke about the car. Oli’s attention to detail during the course of his ownership is immediately apparent every, both inside and out. Having driven a few standard Sags in the past this one is a very different beast. Not to detract from the performance of a standard Sag but I always came away from driving one wanting more, a little bit underwhelmed, like the driving experience hadn’t quite lived up to the looks of the car. The Str8 Six engine upgrade on this has completely transformed it. Im not sure to what extent the carbon airbox and exhaust have contributed to performance gains, if at all, but the noise this thing makes sounds like it has come straight from hell. And the pops and bangs as you come back down through the rev range..... I could devote an entire pasttime to these:-)
Annoyingly, as the sun has just begun to shine, the car must now sit in its pen, un-driven for the next few weeks while the car is being registered. Really looking forward to coming along to the next TVR gathering and meeting all you TVR nuts. Here’s some snaps from the trip
Arrived too late in the evening to see the Sag but managed to cop an eyeful of the next best thing ;-)
The following morning Oli revealed the hooded menace
Drove back to Oli's via some epic country roads

Another of Oli's toys lurking in the background
Tucked up next to its stable mate whilst registration takes place :-(

Big thank you to Oli for being an excellent host, turning an awesome car into an even more awesome car and entrusting me as it's new guardian ;-) Pics and updates to follow
Cheers all
