Hi all!
Did some work on the weekend and removed the extensions of the door mirrors. I never liked the look of these "swan necks" and hopefully this will reduce vibrations above 80mph...

I could well be completely wrong, but, isn't the idea to try and keep the mirrors as far away from car as possible for aerodynamic benefits? Summat to do with air flow n stuff?

Mine will be coming off later this year as well once had a chance to do a CF version of the mirrors and add powerfold, indicators, puddle lights etc... The usual modern stuff that comes with cars these days biggrin

After some discussions with dealers, I was told the extenders were added simply to improve visibility and had nothing
to do originally with any aerodynamics, but I'm happy to be told I'm wrong.

A few Sags have removed them now.

I have to admit I've always thought they were too long on the Sag.

Totally agree. They look really out of place. Like a set of Charles ears...

@Alan
"for aerodynamic benefits"
Could be, but it's a TVR - do you think, that they spent a lot of time in a wind channel? I don't...

@Stewart
Do you need them? Just send me a PM...

@Alex
"to improve visibility"
Thats the only reason which makes sense...

Yes, I still have the extensions.
Haven't noticed any issues, they are much stiffer at high speeds and the view at back is still good.

Is that the car Nivea used for advertising?

Yes - this is the Nivea blue one...don't know if they use it for advertising before!

it looks very light on these pics, but I think it's much darker in flesh:

I had to go and look at some pictures of my Sagaris to see if I had the extensions and not. I knew that they had longer stalks, as they are Corrado mirrors and I have owned a Corrado, but I assumed that they were that way for a reason and it never occurred to me that they might be alterable.

Zeppo

If it's the only Nivea Sagaris then it was definitely used by Nivea.
I saw the car when it was brand new at Lakeside shopping centre in Essex with stickers all over it advertising their products.
I spoke to the employee and was told it was painted Nivea Blue especially for them to use.
Shame I didn't take any pictures but always wanted a TVR and last year finally got my Tamora.
I loved the colour by the way.

It is the only one! Hahaha - fantastic!

It was registered by John Vickers (or Wickers) in 2006. I have seen other pictures in front of an airbrushed wall...

Maybe you should contact Nivea's advertising department and ask for any pictures or information they might have on your car

If you Google "I'm off to buy some Nivea" it will come up with a post on Pistonheads from 2nd July 2005 saying they saw it used by them also.
Maybe Nivea hired it before it was first registered.

@Gary

The car is one of the very first customer cars i.e. a very early car. It spent the first 6-12months of its life unregistered being trailered around.
