"sticky" throttle?
Discussion
Hi!
Today I had a strange problem. When I drive at constant lower revs (2-3000rpm), the car holds rev when I release the pedal slowly.
When I push the pedal quick (or release quick) the car lowers rev as usual.
sign of a dying throttle cable?
new throttle spindel bushing required?
any other ideas?
cheers Josef

Maybe the throttle linkage touches the rubber sleeve of the brake servo.
If it's not a mechanically problem with the throttle cable it's worth to take a look to the bodies. I went for Andys ball bearing mod and since then better than new. Look here: http://tvr-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6144&...

Hey,
I had a similar problem recently. It got so bad that I ended up using a bungee cord hooked under the seat to pull the pedal back every time I lifted off.
Replaced many parts and tried many different things. Give Tony a shout at Hexham for how he finally sorted it for me.
Just ask him what he did for the red Sag.

Had the same problem with mine twice now. First time the cable was sticking and I sprayed wd40 down both ends and worked it and it came fine, that was a few years ago. The second time I couldn't get it sorted so changed the cable, that didn't work, it was at TVR Ecosse getting serviced and I mentioned it to Barry, turns out it's where the peddles hing at the bottom of the pedal box all the crap gets in and makes them sticky. You have to take the whole pedal box out to get the bolt out and clean it up, the bolts the full width of the foot well. Mine is now perfect.
I removed the pedalbox plate this weekend, removed the dirt and used sewing oil and a half can of WD40 on ever moveable part. On engine side, I used WD40 on all turning parts I could reach without removing the main bonnet.
Now it works (most of the time) and the pedal movement is very soft, so I guess I have to remove the airbox and lubricate the supporting points of the throttlebodys more exactly and it will be fine.
The throttle cable itself looks like new...
