Looking for a t350 for a mate, I have found one with 22k on the clock. The car is a 2006 registered car, I think i'm right in thinking the speed six engine was a good engine from the factory at this point. I have advised him to buy a car that has been used a bit more, but he is having none of it. Thoughts advice welcome please

22k should be OK - when I bought my 2006 T350 in 2012 it had just 25K and it's been fantastic.
Had a new heater matrix and that's been it plus major service.

22k is nothing! I would rather have one with a few miles, been shaken down, tweaked etc than standard and barely used.

Agreed, the less mileage the more problems............

2006 would be a good engine. Just check engine numbers to be sure.

I think the important thing with TVR's and especially the Speed Sixes that they need to be used regularly. Not necessarily racking up massive miles but if the car has been out of use for a long time you might find more troubles develop than if being used. Especially seals and electricals. Even a 2006 car which hasn't been well maintained/cared for could cause you problems. Make sure it has a diligent owner and has been maintained by TVR specialists.

My 2 penneth.

It's important that they serviced correctly and appropriately. If they are left outside and leak, then frequent use will be a benefit, but so would fixing the leaks.

22K on a 7 year old car is nice mileage, but do some checks to substantiate the miles.

Look at the underside to see if it's been looked after, look at the interior and the paintwork to see if it has outward signs of neglect. Look at the dealer that has done the servicing and try to assess if it's been done as would be expected for the use it's had.

Be careful on advice that equates to an engine being sound based on year of manufacture. Most engines after 2004 were robust, but none of the engines that TVR manufactured will stand abuse from cold - don't matter if its a 2005 or 2006 build.

Good advice there, especially the mileage. Has the car always had one of those faulty speed transducers that are intermittent at best? Remember, if it is faulty, it will not show the real mileage.

But then again, for a 'toy', the mileage may be spot on for a 7 year old car.

We have a 10 year old Toy Chris, it's done 28,000. It's been around Spain 3 or 4 times, done track days been great fun. In a "normal" year it gets a few thousand miles under its belt. It hasn't suffered from lack of use, its not suffered form excessive use (general chassis fatigue etc.)

You enjoying being back in a Tamora?

Id Echo the advice above, ive had a Chim for a number of years and currently have a Tuscan and although i havent done much mileage in the Tuscan (only 100's so far this year) ive average in both ownerships no more tha 2-3k a year and never experienced symptoms of under use. my Tuscan is current on circa 45k and is 13 years old

Tell him to buy it before someone else does and if the engine is of concern to him, ask to see if it can be inspected by a reputable dealer

Loving it! No one seems to believe me when I say that I have done all I want to do to it, but I have, and now I am just enjoying it.

They do get better as the miles are put on...

I could start lots of threads about the car, but I don't think people want to read my gushing. Anyway, these forums are much quieter than they used to be (understandably I guess, a decade on..)
