New 'performance' CF airbox from ACT?
Discussion
Could you not add the hoses to a standard box and cut the inlets shorter. One of my inlets cracked. Most boxes are now getting cracks and falling apart so I havent bothered to replace with a second hand one but I see the price of carbon ones and it seems ridiculous if you just want to replace an inlet, which on these upgraded airboxs is just a hose anyway?
They maybe different on the inside but I'm on about the bit that connects to the throttle body, that's where mine went.

I know where there is a standard airbox for sale in not too bad a condition, a PH member did express interest, so I'd have to check if he still wants it, but he's on the continent and it was getting a tad expensive/complicated to get it to him, if anyone's interested PM me for more details.

In a word "no". They maybe different on the inside but I'm on about the bit that connects to the throttle body, that's where mine went.
You'd likely have to create custom tooling to get the correct angle on the hoses.

My standard airbox is now FUBAR (cracks and broken bits), so the procrastination over which replacement to get needs to come to an end!
Am I right in saying that the options are;
1. Find a reasonable condition standard one,
2. ACT version like Chris
3. Clive Ford's SS one,
4. Brendan's new CF one?
Anything I've missed?
My current thinking is that the ACT one is a bit underwhelming in terms of quality and performance gains (at least looking at Chris' comments).
The SS version looks pretty, appears to give a suggested 15bhp, is in production - but is likely a but heavier and may not match my engine bay.
Brendan's one? To plagiarise a well known Spanish waiter - "I know nothing"!
Any thoughts on this from you guys? Buzzbillsberry, do you have a link to the one that you've ordered, or contact details for Brendan?
TIA
I am sure the SS box comes with a remap from Joolz in with the price (slightly less overall than what I paid for the air box alone, and I still have to pay Dom for a remap)Am I right in saying that the options are;

I think that the Syvecs ECU would probably require mapping elsewhere. I'm no expert (hah! far from it) but I think you need a fair bit of practice on them to get/stay up to speed.T40ORA said:
