And let's not forget when the Sagaris was released it was up against the Ferrari 360 and 996 GT3,

The Sag was quicker than the 360 (big disappointment) and 96 Gt3 I tested, to compare it with 458s, 991 Gt3s etc is a little unfair, it's 10 years old now remember.
Where is this going i did not say this and neither did GreenBangit
I did not buy it for speed i bought it for its stunning looks all else is a bonus
When your mate got on his high horse and stated we should try driving proper fast cars like Ferraris etc wink

Just so im not being harsh on the Sag i stopped off at Preston and met up with the 'green bandit' now he can drive!
His face lit up when i pulled into Tickled Trout,he said i heard you before i saw you!!
He said wow what a looker, what a colour and was impressed,i handed him over the keys,15 mins later he reappears with a big grin.We both agreed its not the quickest car in the stable yet i didnt buy it for that :-)
So all in all its okay, not the quickest, very sensitive, very noisy keeps you focused no margin for error, but for me and its a very big BUT its the looks that appeal to me next the colour and the sound after that all the rest is academic, think i can just about live with that :-)

You may want to digest what Rocco said about the Sag after driving it 350 miles, i have copied and pasted his post to save you time. Why are you saying I got on my high horse when it was Rocco that made the comment? I agreed with what he said that it wasn't the fastest in his stable.

What's odd is looking through your post history over the last month, all of them have resulted in some form of inflammatory remark and conflict With other established members. Strange.... Maybe close this one here and move on folks.

If I have upset anyone on this forum I would like to apologise as I never intended to as I'm not like that in the least, I guess the banter we have in our car group doesn't carry over to the Piston Heads forum, and writing something isn't always interpreted in the way you write it.
I don't recall saying anything derogatory about TVR's either but again, if anyone thinks I have then I apologise again for that too, I like anything that has an engine.
Anything that I have posted on other forums was lighthearted banter, or at least it was meant to be but maybe wasn't taken that Way.
I would like to think that we can put a lid on this once and for all, we are all adults that share the same interests.

Thank you

Mobil 1 15/50, mine has more miles than yours, under normal driving doesn't burn any, hard driving around a litre every 1000 miles, with your mileage 10/40 would probably be better.

10/40 semi syn. Mine doesn't use a drop since its rebuild but still need to check every 1000 or so just in case.

Tony,
The S6 can go between services without using a drop but the consumption you state above would not a worry.

If you were to try it on track and subject it to very hard use, they will drink between 0.5-1.0 litres in a day (that's using around almost two tanks of fuel.

I've always used 15/50 Mobil fully synthetic. Not had any engine problems.

Hope you have fun with the car and it settles in well in your stable.

I'm sure Graham went through the importance of the warming up process with you when you bought it?

I am sure you need to use 10/40 semi synthetic if the engine is still under Dom's warranty - using anything else may invalidate it.

Knowing that Str8Six built your engine, I would give them a quick call to ask. I know that Jason uses Mobil as standard, but may use different grades depending on the engine type, age and condition.

It may also be on the invoices from HHC or Str8six that Hollowpockets would have handed over as part of the sale.

Sag is not qiucker than a 360.I can support my claim
Hi Rocco,

Not trying to pick a fight but I'm very surprised by your claim above, I've tested a few 360s like I said before and been very disappointed with the performance of them, certainly not as quick as my standard Sag, a good friend owns a Rolling Road and he says they typically make around 350bhp, my Sag made 367bhp.

They also weigh 200kg more than a Sagaris so that added with the real bhp of them backs up how disappointing they were.

Now you have a 4.3 that should be good for 400bhp and with more torque than the standard Sag engine so something doesn't add up???

Like I said not looking for a fight.

smile The S6 is very smooth in its power delivery, deceptively so.

Jason at Str8six has always advised me to use Mobil 1 0W-40 Fully Synthetic. The Sagaris has 29,000 on the clock and the T350T 26,000. The Sagaris engine is a low compression SP6 4ltr S, and generally doesnt seem to burn much oil at all...though on our recent 2,500 road trip to Italy, I used something like 3 litres...mind you I lost 5th gear after 400 miles so did most of the trip using 4 fwd gears and it has to be said, the unit was working 'fairly hard'!! The T350T has the SP6 4ltr S engine; this engine was significantly breathed on by the factory and the car goes like stink, but it does seem to consume 'much more' oil than the Sagaris....I keep a close eye on the levels in both.

We all know what a palava it is to check the oil levels on a SP6 engine....run it up to 60 Deg bla bla. I did ask a very well known TVR specialist if there was a short cut to checking the oil levels with the unit cold. Answer...ensure the car is on the level and the oil should just be touching the very bottom of the dip stick. I have been using this method for the last year. Obviously I'm not recommending it to others, its up to you as it were, but just incase you were curious....

Enjoy your car Rocco, it looks fab.
