Hi all,
I was due to take my Tamora to Bruntingthorpe (aerodrome/proving ground) for some car handling and fun time but it is currently way too noisy (sport exhaust and decat!) biggrin
Could you please let me know the type of exhaust you have & its decibel output? I obviously need to invest in something more "reasonable"...
Alternatively if you have any suggestion for an alternative exhaust, I would really grateful!
Thank you wink

Cats back in and a standard exhaust, if not available I think the Blue Flame is reputed to be fairly quiet

Just bought a Tam myself and was wondering the same thing as mine is fitted with a sports exhaust. Searched on here and found information for ACT who provide bolt on track day silencers. Thinking about getting some but not got any track days planned yet until I take the Tam in for a checkup and full service. Only got it yesterday. smile

If you do go for these let me know how you get on. Worth giving them a call.

Its difficult to fit trackday cans to a Tamora exhaust as the tail pipes tend to have a rolled edge.

I have passed a 105dB trackday static test with CATs fitted and an ACT backbox. Then failled it on the next day.

The standard exhaust and CATs passes without issue.

Convincing the tester the car has a 7k red line is another matter.

What are the noise levels like in your Tam over a long drive. Driving mine home around the M25 yesterday made me doubt my ability to stay sane on a long trip such as Le Mans next year. Not sure what sports exhaust was fitted but it is certainly very loud. I do know it was done by Dream Machines who maintained it over the past 7 years but as I heard they went under this year I can't get any info on the car.

Sounds like I might need to swap out for a standard exhaust frown , though the sports one sounds great in small helpings. I'm sure it's louder than the pre cat Griff 4.0 I used to have, and that was borderline on track days. I used to have to back off the throttle approaching the monitoring huts.

See my post above, that's the only way you're guaranteed to pass a noise test, my de-catted sports exhaust showed 115db when tested at Cadwell (3/4 revs = 4500 whistle)

Act backbox and act de-cats, erm, a rather quiet 131.9db paperbag

redface that could be me. Read on another forum about fitting ACT track day silencers, though not sure they would reduce 131db to passable levels. The suggestion was to drill silencers, weld nuts onto the inside of the outlets and then bolt in the silencers on track days/long journeys. Might be worth trying.
