Technically if it has passed an Autolign inspection it will be classed as condition inspected which means it can be insured for full market value, which also means in respect of safety it is as good as an undamaged example. Don't think Autolign comment on dodgy resprays though...

Gordon you are spot on. I have a cat D which was auotlign checked. The V5 status now reads "substantially repaired and/or accident damaged" followed by the identity check date.
The car is insured with Adrian Flux with an agreed value of 49K.
I know the Cat cars are seen as a dark area to be avoided but id pitch my car against any none cat TVR.
It really does depend on the repair quality and i can say that the Autolign inspection is very detailed.

made quite a round trip from target cars back over and shaking hands with several people.
for sure it can be brought back in a decent condition but this will set you back some serious cash.
can´t judge if the investment is worth it or better buy another one from the ads.
