Interested to know why 23k miles is considered high mileage for a 10 year old car?
I didn't say that it was.
Ah that game....

Yes you are right, you didn't say anything

If this car was for sale at Str8Six or RG many people would be creaming themselves. I suspect because its for sale outside of the specialist network (and particularly at an unfashionable Northern town where another hypercar dealer took people for a ride) there's a bit of presumption going on.

Exterior colour is one of the ones people normally say "wow", interior is specced to suit exterior; miles are not garage queen but not daft so in the perfect zone for TVR behaviour and 4.3 PP build is one that upsets purists but there's enough of the other camp.

I'm not connected to the owner btw and have no desire for a Sag, don't like the looks.

Nope, I didn't say it was high mileage and I didn't imply that it was. I said it wasn't extremely low mileage, which is what I'd have expected a £70k plus car to be. Mileage is comparative to other cars on the market, this one is about average or slightly below.

Personal experience of S6 engines over 11 years in Sags suggests this is utter nonsense too.

4000 miles since rebuild is that high miles ???
I think a bright orange interior is divisive, some will love it but plenty might be put off by it.

Standard engines aren't ticking time bomb and I'd have thought at prices well above new, we are getting into collector territory where originality is quite important.

I didn't say the car was high mileage.

Anyway, just my opinion and happy to admit I may be way off the mark and you'll get what you're asking. Good luck and I hope that you do, would certainly be good news for me!

When i was looking for a Sag i was told all sorts about thr engine being a ticking time bomb,so I decided to go for one that had been well looked after and had an engine rebuild, not only a rebuild but a 4.3 conversion
Ive never owned a tvr before and wanted to experience what it was like own one, after 5/6 months of ownership its time to try something different
thank you

What were your thoughts on the Sagaris, you've clearly had a lot of experience with high performance cars, it would be interesting to know how it compared.

Most buy them as keepers, a few dabble and move on. Killer question; would you consider the new car when it's out, or has the Sag sated your TVR itch?

I think TVR is rather a special case when it comes to "originality". After all, no two TVRs ever left the factory absolutely identical so there really is no concept of Concours-type "original".

An engine upgrade by one of the well-respected evolvers, whether than be TVR Power's increased displacement route or Racing Green's FFF route, doesn't impact the originality and if anything makes the car more desirable.

(In my biased and partisan opinion, of course. wink )

Edit: Having said that, in my mind a Sagaris that has had its S6 heart ripped out and replaced by an LS-series V8 does detract from the value and is a step too far. Which I realise does rather contradict the above.

Probably a good idea. Far more likely to get an honest answer out of him than you.

Any engine is a ticking bomb. Some tick faster or slower than others, some go bang louder than others. I'm same as you, been running S6 engines since 2004 and engines have never had anything other than routine maintenance and care in use.

That doesn't mean garage queen either, it means mechanical sympathy. Some may even argue that engines modified and under greater stresses are more susceptible to a shorter time ticking and prone to louder bangs...

It does impact the originality, no doubt about it.

It will make the car more desirable to some, but not to others. smile

Whilst others would suggest that running an ECU with fully 3D mapped sequential ignition, knock sensors, and a head that has improved oil and coolant pathways, is far better than a factory ECU that treats a straight 6 as two banks of 3 and wastes 2/3 of the fuel it blindly throws into the cylinders, one of which is notorious for leaning out and causing detonation (which a lack of knock sensors means it won't protect against either).

Each to their own, I guess. smile
