Hi All,

For a while now I've noticed a thumping/banging noise coming from the petrol tank after I've used my Sag.
If I open the fuel cap there is a huge rush of air and the noise stops.

Is there a vent or breather somewhere that might be blocked ? If there is does anyone know where it is ?

Thanks

Mine does this. Probably going to explode... nearly for 9 years now, maybe if yours goes bang I'll fix mine. Think normal on a serious note

R35 gtr's also do this after a hard drive. Normal for them.

Morning,
The same on my cerbera 4.5.

A big "air sound" when you open the tank.

Normal as said my mechanic. Totaly normal.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the feedback. As it seems to be case of "they all do that" I'll ignore it.

Sounds like the problem that I had. Mine was due to a full carbon canister. I replaced it with a fresh one and the banging has gone. Ford Focus Mk1 1998->2004 Ford Part number 1S4X9D653AA, 1S4X-9D655-AB

Hmm.. my sag never made any noise from the petrol tank, though always had a rush of air when opening (the T350 does that too)

It could be the fuel pump flying around inside it, possible the air pressure having something to do with it's movement..

That might make sense as it seems to have got worse over the past few years.

Where is it mounted and is it easy to change ?

Have a look at this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... . Should be fairly simple.

One of the reasons I got rid of the carbon filter. It was only put on for emissions purposes and serves no actual use apart from venting fumes back in to the intake when the ecu commands it. You can remove it with no ill effects what so ever. And saves the bother of worrying about it.

However, if you do want one, I happen to have a spare I bough for the Cerb before I decided to ditch it, (Believe they are the same) if your wanting it?

Also check the roll over valve, they can stick. I found blowing through mine made it slam shut but a little bit of fettling and it worked as it should again, IE, only when its upside down!

Hi tofts,

Thanks for the info.

If it can be removed I'll probably go down that route but as I'm a complete numpty at this stuff I'll get someone else to do it for me.

Thanks
