Thanks AOK, thats great, i'll just keep watching then.

They only reason being that I love driving with the roof off really. It will be kept in an underground car park and only used in the summer, so I don't have to worry about it leaking etc.

Do the Targa's have their issues then?
I have heard two things about targas. Firstly that there is considerable wind noise generated by the protruding roof pieces, and secondly that they have quite a tendency to leak. I cannot corroborate either first hand, but when I was seriously considering buying one recently this is what I was told by people "in the know". Great looking car either way!

2 posts in 3 years... you're not a talkative one are you Torqueti..v..... oh, I see! wink

I get a slight whistle from the Targa panels above 80mph which is eliminated by very slightly lowering one of the windows. Above 120mph it gets very bad. Of course, neither of those speeds are an issue apart from when I'm on a track...

I've not had any issues with leaking throughout ownership, and I regularly drive it in all conditions:

As above. Though I have the later panels which were introduced I think from early 04.

Good point Zippee, forgot to mention that.

Aim for a car (like ours) which has the later panels... the catches/mounting points are at the front of the panel (towards the windscreen) instead of outwards (towards the t-bar and side windows). This change was introduced early 2004 and makes a lot of difference.

There have been several threads on PH addressing the panels and ways to seal them better.

Mine will be coming up for sale in the next few weeks: just waiting for a sunny day to get some pictures together. While black isn't the craziest colour, it is the fastest wink

Agreed. No wind noise from my targa panels below 90-100mph (if a windy day and a strong headwind then 90mph). Those 'in the know' must have only driven an early model with badly fitted panels (sometimes you need to spend a moment positioning them and not just slapping them in place).

Also, since I bought mine new in 2004 I have driven it in some monsoon conditions and it has not leaked one bit through the roof. The roof seal is a good design to prevent this.

Picking mine up tomorrow after having a little TLC in the paint shop. Peter Wheelers old car and a favourite of his by all accounts. Have been gradually giving it a sympathetic restoration over the last two or three years. Love the targa, love it! smile

Do you know whether it's a 3.6 or 4.0? And whether its a Lightweight (vinyl ester body)?

The car is a lightweight 4.0 and has around 13-14k on it, I'm still waiting on pictures!

Yup. Mine never leaked but even with the later latch system the whistling from around 90+ became a clear issue at over 120 to the point that you really believed they were going to pull out.

I bought mine from str8six in April for £34k. They told me about the one in Jaguar Green that would be coming up for sale but I am sure they said it would be closer to 45k
