Filling T350 with petrol
Discussion
Have had TVR's for a number of years and there're not the easiest of cars to fill with petrol.
However the T350 (which I’ve had a couple of weeks and love) sprayed petrol out when I opened the ball valve this morning, it’s a pig to fill but I can live with that.
It was a hot day and I opened the petrol valve very slowly and it started to spray out, obviously I shut it and put a paper towel over it but quite a bit of petrol came out. The gauge was showing 12 litres.
Anyone else ……….. someone must have the same problem? Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Spray used to be caused when you filled to the top and closed the ball valve holding a little petrol in the valve, when you then opened it hot the escaping pressurised air would blow the valve petrol out.
I think they did attempt to drill a hole in the valve so that it would drain into the tank but I think that was towards the end!

Another reason could be a blocked roll-over valve, carbon canister or the associated tubing. The valve sits behind the passenger side b-pillar cover.
Vaporized fuel due to heat from exhaust increases pressure inside the tank and can no longer vent. It then does it violently when you open the valve. I agree that spitting fuel requires it to be in the ball valve recess itself as with 12l in the tank I dont think it would spit.
Blockage would also make filling up even more time consuming

The Sagaris fuel cap is one of these: http://www.newton-equipment.com/aero-filler-cap-ra... so I guess bodywork would need to be changed.
Some body modification is required to make it fit so you will need to have a qtr end respray. S&D also modified the pipe routing when they fitted it.
I get zero spitting, blowback, hissing etc now when filling and can also go full flow right to the pump cut out which is a major blessing.
AFAIK mine is one of only 3 T350s to have this mod.
