Where have all the Sags gone????
Discussion
Try and do your research before you post nonsense Tony, and if it's a wind-up, it's in bad taste.
Perpetuating a myth that all Sags that haven't had a rebuild need one does the majority of owners no favours.

I found it a bit sad that you went down the route of suggesting that the original Sag engines were chocolate when they were anything but.
I suspect, but don't know for a fact, that the majority of 4.3s have been done cos the owners wanted more torque, or just because they could. There was very little wrong with the 4.0 engines that came out of the factory in 2005/6.

Correct and then spent a fortune having a rebuild, this begs the question if the 2005/2006 4.0 engine were fine then why did it let go,unless this was an isolated incident
They weren't fine. It was still pot luck with dicey quality control. The cam follower issue was largely sorted but other qc related issues occurred. See the last two posts on this page, that's a 2005 car.

Dom @ Power had even given up on trying to sell me a 4.3 or 4.5 conversion on the basis that "your engine is fine Kev".
Would I go for a converted now? Yes but only because whilst the car was quick enough for the road it just never felt as quick as it looked
You could buy a Porsche and have engine fires, bore scoring or bearing failures a Lambo and have engine fires or 3,000 mile clutches etc.
Buy them and enjoy them.

I have never had a car that has given me more pleasure to drive than a Sag,and i also own a Lambo,Porsche and a Ferrari Would I go for a converted now? Yes but only because whilst the car was quick enough for the road it just never felt as quick as it looked

No issues with the air cooled,no probs with the clutch on the diablo or the scud

My tongue in cheek point was that it is a good car so buy it and enjoy it, you can get bad cars in any brand if you are unlucky but in the most part you will buy something that is fine.No issues with the air cooled,no probs with the clutch on the diablo or the scud

oh dear, guess we've just been lucky with our 6 S6 cars, including the Sag that did 12/13000 faultless track miles before being sold because I got bored with it.
Yes "luck".. Dicey quality control means sometimes you'll get lucky, sometimes you won't. Edited by TVRMs on Tuesday 2nd August 07:18
If you read that post I linked to the original valve seat dropped out second time round... Yes original. If you think the factory was full of engine building gurus your in cloud cuckoo land.
