Hi All

I'm finding myself pondering a return to the fold and specifically looking at Tamora's.

I had a T350c which was a great car but I missed the open top experience so didn't get the use I thought I would and other family stuff took priority so I moved it on. I've now spent an age looking for convertibles we can also get a dog in and seem to,be coming full circle!

Anyhow - planning to tiake a look at one soon but would be very grateful if anyone has any experience of those currently for sale (or know of any other nice cars coming to market).

I had air con fitted to the T350 ( when Str8 Six had the factory kits) - guessing this wouldn't be so vital on a Tam but again would value any insights.

Thinking I may soon regret selling my Varley manual! smile

Many Thanks

John

The green one at TVR Mads has been for sale for ages and I can only think it is the price. Those that have seen it say it is mint. Late mk2 model. If I were looking again I would start at that one.

Not in the classifieds or their website so it might have finally sold.

There was a late registered one for sale at TH Bohlers near Banbury, at around £35k, with a 4.3 rebuild

The one at 36k is very nice, very expensive but nice. Keep wondering if i should sell mine, i keep making my mind up and then i drive it again and think no way..

There are a few for sale on PH and Autotrader, however most seem to be Mk1's not many Mk2's around at the moment. Not sure how much longer the prices are going to stay around the 20k mark. Maybe they will follow the T350?

Looking at the price folk are asking and getting for less capable S6 engined cars, is it very expensive? I don't think it is if it's as nice in the flesh?

Thanks all for the input and suggestions. I had seen the £36k car but don't have that deep pockets smile

Butch - I've changed my settings so you can e-mail me - look forward to hearing from you.
Rib - Hadn't considered this route but would be very interested in some details of your car also please

Thanks again - if anyone else spots anything coming to market or is considering parting company would be great to hear from you.

Cheers

John

Just read this thread with interest as I'm considering a move from my Chimaera to a Tam myself.
Somebody above mentioned mk 1 and mk 2 Tams, what exactly are the differences between the two?

Cheers guys!

Mainly the spotlights on the front.

Mk1 has one vertically under indicator
Mk2 has a larger one at a 45° angle to indicator.

I was looking for ages and never realised until just before buying one and glad as Mk2 has more aggressive look in my opinion

As above, but there are also quite a few early cars with the later front end from the factory.

You also won't regret the mive up, tamora is such a better car than the chim!

Humm, I wouldn't be so sure on that. I've had my griff for 16 years and wanted a Tamora for years. Finally got a beautiful '06 mk2 in Chameleon green a few months ago but knowing how different they were I opted to keep hold of the griff for a while. They are SO different. I really started to miss that V8 torque; I found that I preferred driving the griff to work but wanted to look out and see the tamora. Result? Not sure yet; might keep both, might sell the tamora... At the end of the day, one speaks to my driving style, the other brings out the hooligan in me.

No, a private seller. Don't get me wrong, the car's amazing and if you give it some beans in 2nd/3rd it sounds great. But having to wait for most of my short trips out just to get it warm? Having to drop gears to make it go? I often feel I'm a sitting duck for hot hatches and Audi's at the lights. I'm just saying that had I sold the griff before I'd bought the tam I'd've regretted it, but that's just me.

You are right, they are very different I just felt the tamora handled and felt so much better even without the difference in engines. Speed6 really does encourage you thrash it though, but then now I have the Ls I have all the torque in the world once again and that v8 soundtrack. Best of both worlds lol

I've considered the LS option but it looks like I'd have very little change out of around £18k, unless you know better? I guess I'd have the sale of the s6. Sorry if this feels like a thread hijack.

I am thinking of going the other way too. Either Griff or 4.5/5L Chim. Ideal world I would have both but I do miss the V8 cars.
I rarely get out in the car solo where I can enjoy the S6 benefits. Most journeys i'm with the Mrs and she sts herself whenever I go above 4k. Perhaps the V8 suits my driving style too albeit it has taken me 2 Tams and a T350T to realise it.

@ John, I emailed you last week so let me know if you haven't received.

Hi again

Much appreciate the input and thanks to those of you who've gotten in contact regarding possible cars coming to market.

There are some great sounding cars (pun unintended) but it's evident that I may need to recalibrate my expectations around current prices and what I may (or may not) get for my budget.

Probably should have kept the 350! smile. Thanks again.

John
