story in a nutshell. Have owned my Tamora for 4 years but for the last 2.5 years its been in storage (I know but we built a house and they get kind of expensive) around 3 months ago I decided to bring it home but again its again sat in the garage. With 2 kids we just don't fit....so I have decided to sell it.
It is a MK2 30K miles - anyway a "buyer" of TVR's has offered me £15,000 for it

Having been out of the TVR loop for a while how reasonable/miserable is this. Prices for a Tam seem to be all over the place. I'm not really mad on selling it but storage option is expensive and now waiting list, garage space is required and ironically the TVR sale would enable me to build a new larger garage!

should I service/MOT and go for private, stick a 4.3 in and go for a big profit?

any advice?

Recent experience of talking to dealers is that they offer something like £10K under the likely selling price for cash. This is because (a) it gives them some leeway to fix important issues, (b) to provide a warrenty and (c) to make a healthy profit!

Privately is therefore a better approach to maximise your return, but many buyers like the comfort a warrenty gives and may also need finance, both of which dealers can provide. So there are a limited number of buyers willing to buy privately, especially as prices increase.

Assuming that it is in good condition and storage hasn't created any problems it must be worth getting a service and MOT. It should sell privately at around £18k/£19k (2003 models retail at anything from £20k - £25k).
As always with TVR's; service history, condition, colour and trim will all effect value.
Good luck

Ain't it worth phoning around a few more dealers for a price if you want a quick sale?

Get a dealer to forecourt it for you and take a percentage.
You can then use the dealers warranty scheme as well , which you will have to pay for when the car is sold.
I have done this before and it worked out well enough.

If you're in the East Midlands then why not get a service done and a clean bill of health signed off by TVR Power. The chap I sold mine to would only buy on that condition, so probably worth doing. Then give it a good polish.
