Looking at that I'm guessing a new 4" layer of concrete was put in with shuttering for the ramp. Proper job - I'd love something like that smile

Geoff that looks great! I had thought of doing something similar but the costs of refurbing my double garage mean this one will be on the future "to do" list. Out of interest, is there any advantage (apart from price) on the model you've gone for rather than the ones which have totally separate platforms?
By the looks of the one linked to, the area in the middle can't easily remain tiled/useable floor space?

Certainly the prices look reasonable for a UK company!

I placed the ramp where I thought best. Marked around it with a permanent marker, then hired a floor saw (like they use on roads for cutting) and cut the slab. Broke it out, dug out slab then pulled a further 5in of crap. Relaid 5in of hardcore then new damp sheet lapped into existing (under existing slab edges) then poured 5in of crete on top.
Chopped a slot for pipework, laid a 40mm plastic drain so I could run hydraulic pipe and air inside. I chopped the trolley up and wall-mounted both the pump and control unit so it hides behind the bench. I cut the floor notches at each end with a disc cutter with some freehand stillages. Painted, job done. Well chuffed.

Max working height is 860mm (top of scissor to top of floor). Not had car on it yet as paint is curing. Chose this because its well recommended. Looked at individual scissors but that's a bolt-in job. I can lift this out if we ever move. Though I will leave in for a fee.....

Great work that Geoff, it looks like your motor come lift is packed away so I bet you had fun dropping it in the hole!!

Out of interest where on the tam are you supporting the chassis? I find on both the griff and sag the platforms aren't quite long enough to do the four outrigger corners.

Geoff, how did the floor saw compare to say using a stihl saw for the job?

A proper floor saw on a chassis with its own wheels meant no wobble from hand-holding and I could achieve long, straight, vertical edge cuts. Also, it provided a bigger diameter blade - my 9in disc cutter simply wouldn't go through a 5in slab.
