Hi all, Considering swapping the tuscan in for a T350, any advice on how the 2 compare greatly appreciated!

My tuscan is a 51 plate 4.0

Is there anything to look out for on the T350 when buying one? other than the normal TVR stuff.

thanks

I think yours is a Mk1, I had a Mk1 and also now have a T350 they are completely different animals with good bits and bad bits for both, MK1 Tuscan handling is not the best, T350 is streets in front, Tuscan has more room in the cabin and not as claustrophobic as the T350, Tuscans boot is far bigger than the hatch back style in the T350 so far better for touring. other than that IMHO you just need to look out for the usual TVR bits same as the Tuscan. Obviously you are aware of the speed 6 engine and early ones had issues. worst things with T350 the LCD read out cannot been seen in light but there is a guy Lee Gascoigne who makes upgrades so you can actually see them in the sunlight, filling the blooming thing up with petrol can be a farce, if the boot is full up you have to empty half of it out to get to the lever to open the ball joint filler type thing then you have to go slowly to fill it up or throws it out all over the place, the big thing you will miss is the open top motoring of the Tuscan, T350T,s are just a blooming hole in the roof and make silly horrible wind noises ask any T350T owner wink also Black is by far the best colour yes

Ask to join the TVR t350 group on Facebook.

The point about the roof panels is over exaggerated. Mine are fine and it's great having the panels out in the summer time smile

After September 2001 the chassis's are the same... or should I say the wishbones and uprights are the same across the cars.

There'll be a Griff owner along in a minute telling us to ditch the T cars.. anyway for what it's worth Tuscan Vs Sagaris is my dilemma and similar so here goes, the Sag is a bit cramped but seems to eat miles like nothing else I've ever driven, I mean autoroute miles, seems once you're in there for a while the snugness is addictive. The Tuscan is a tardis, boot and cabin yet I can't do more than three hours odd in there as I just don't find it intuitive and I get frustrated with pressing the wrong button or something.

Driving A roads the Tuscan wins, I think mine handles so well and perhaps because I am scared of crashing the Sag I make better progress in the Tuscan every time there are twisty bits. As Matti eludes, the chassis, well the important bits, are the same so I am often puzzled by the "350s handle so well" statement. I shall not get technical, this isn't the OPs intention as I understand, but my Mk1 does do really well on bumps and cambers and the offset and tyre choice is a big part of this.

Sound, the Sag has the prize here and a 350 has a similar (longer/wider back box) set up, albeit not side exiting. I can deafen anyone with a window open beside me...

Tuscan dash is... not my cup of tea, and if you want engine RPM you need to look at an LCD display. The Sag has a proper set up, easy to see the needle flick round without looking down. I often short shift the Tuscan simply because I don't know how high, or low, the revs are.

Looks, the 350s and Sags are more modern but I do like, prefer, the Tuscan simply because I don't like the front of the 350 and Sag. Either one attracts a crowd so make your choice, this is the subjective bit.

Finally, working under the bonnet (bonnet off) on the Sag is slightly more awkward than the Tuscan although tappet shims on the Sag are easier at the back of the engine as there is less scuttle cover.

If you cant decide, have one of each.

J

I thought the T350 chassis was a bit shorter, the T350 is a shorter car so does not have the over hang at the front or rear which adds handling as well

Not seen you for a while we must catch up in the new year, I been busy and bought a 350i Wedge yikes now theres a car that can handle wink

Hello Gary, you like your old Rover v8's don't ya. I haven't really been out in it much this year really, replacing all the carpets and polybushing the thing to longer than anticipated.

As for the T350 chassis it's just the same as the Tuscan and Tamora. The only difference being the early Tuscan you had, had shorter front wishbones and uprights drilled in a different position. The only difference in over hang is purely cosmetic.

Matt

Yes love the old rover V8 and always loved the Wedge as I wanted one when they first came out but could not afford one then when I could I went and looked at one but the wife preffered the chimaera so I stretched myself and bought one so she was happy had a few other Tvr's and now love my T350 as it's more or less as I want it and great on track, had a couple of Griffs and liked them, also been looking at Wedges for years and driving one of my friends mad adout them he said either he one or don't ask me any more about them so I looked and looked then the right one came along and I bought it and love it as it complements the T350 even the wife likes the wedge but I suspect because I don't drive it like a loon
