Morning all. Help required please, where is the locking wheel key stowed? Previous owner forgot to mention it and I forgot to ask - I've a horrible feeling at this stage that it hasn't actually come with the car !

Dead battery and booked in for full hit service with Dom on Monday. Passed all the challenges of getting in lol, just can't get the damn wheel off so I can swap the battery out for a new one (definitely needs doing).

Thanks in advance, appreciate any quick replies as it's driving me bonkers going round the car trying to find it. There's very few places it could actually hide.

Regards,

Mike

There are locking wheelnut removal tools out there but all a bit different depending the make / diameter etc. It happens a lot probably.

Some tyre places use a hammer and chisel but don't resort to that, it could wreck the wheel.

Mike - morning!

Think I'm right in saying that the cars didn't come with locking wheel nuts as standard (from factory). I'd telephone/text previous owner to see if he can help.

If that doesn't shed any light, you've 2 options. First, is to put a charger on the car. Access to battery either using Anderson socket behind N/S/F wheel or jack front up, put steering to full RH lock and you can just access battery cover screws - release and charge battery. Once battery is recovered start car and head to Powers. They may well have a clever tool for overcoming this situation?

2nd option is to drill/marmalise the locking wheel nuts to remove. (Get replacement standard nuts from your local JEEP dealer first - they are an imperial 1/2" stud). Replace battery.

Good luck! Nick

Thanks Guys. Have already contacted the previous owner who thought it was in the glovebox - definitely not so he's off scouring his garage to hopefully turn it up.

Managed to get access and have an optimate on it at the moment (don't seem to have an anderson connector for some reason?) but it's not even registering a charge, I think the battery is that far gone :-( so I think I'm stuck till I can get the wheel off and replace the thing. Now stressing that I can't get her mobile before Monday to be able to take it to Powers !

Mike,
OK, next train of thought would be to get a starter/jump pack (mate, friendly garage or Screwfix/Machine Mart as they're open Sundays). Access to battery as my previous post. Leave jump pack connected for 2 mins and then try a start.....Maybe with a good 30~40 minute drive the battery may come up enough for the Accumate to carry on with the process. The intelligent chargers need to see some voltage from the battery to 'work through' their process.

Either way looks like you need a new battery once it's at Powers.

If its a Tam, have a look in the boot under the little removable bits on either side of the boot that give you access to the lower lights.

Thanks all. Got in and got the wheel off in the end. Car dropped off @ Powers on Monday after a lovely run down with a fresh battery in. Hopefully collect it tomorrow after it's full 12k hit and 100% check through - I just hope we get the odd day through winter with decent weather and not much crap on the roads so I can get out in it :-)
