Single DIN Sat-Nav audio
Discussion
Thinking of getting a single DIN Sat-nav audio head unit. What have people got in their T-Cars. Have a good Alpine DAB unit but quite fancy a new Pioneer flip out unit with the add-on Nav module. Its a bit tight for space so I was wondering do the screens fold out OK without fouling the tunnel/gear stick??

I have a Kenwood flip out, KGT620T I think, flips out fine as long as you're in 2nd or 4th gear Before you buy check out on how you update the maps and the costs, mine uses an SD card and if you believe Kenwood only their own special, which is twice th e price of the Garmin ones. I seem to recall the Pioneer uses Cd which also very expensive.

Thanks, the latest Pioneer one is SD card, will look intones what Kenwood can do. I know it will be cheaper to buy a separate Nav unit but it looks messy stuck to the screen. Good point about the gear leaver position but I guess if I leave it in 2/4 or reverse it will be fine! Before you buy check out on how you update the maps and the costs, mine uses an SD card and if you believe Kenwood only their own special, which is twice th e price of the Garmin ones. KVT-729 fits fine. Same as above though, opening and closing the screen requires 2nd or 4thBefore you buy check out on how you update the maps and the costs, mine uses an SD card and if you believe Kenwood only their own special, which is twice th e price of the Garmin ones. If you don't want a pop out screen then the Blaupunkt Rome 56E is fantastic

I had the same dilemma and was keen on having an OEM look.
I went for a Becker Cascade Pro unit, which is a simple looking unit but with Nav and iPod functionality similar to the Audi system.
They were standard equipment in the okee Ferrari and Maserati single din set ups.
All in all well chuffed with it! 👍

I had a Pioneer flip screen unit fitted a couple of years ago, I also had one fitted in my first Tam. The only thing you need to be careful of is making sure the gear stick is in 2nd or 4th when opening out the screen. Apart from that, I like it, and the sat nav unit is tiny (uses an SD card rather than CD/DVD like the older ones)
