Hi All
Just wondering what peeps have found to be the best and most reasonable insurance companies to use after going down the modified engine route - 4.3, 4.5, FFF
Thanks in Advance

Mannings. They do not really care what mods you have as long as you declare them.

Agreed Mannings ... They seem to have some understanding of TVR Mods and don't go over the top.

I've been with Manning for a few years so that makes it easy... Time for an agreed vlue increase too me thinks..

With Classicline and no issue just tell them what's in it as with all mods its power 4.3 by-the-way

I was with Mannings but they couldn't match Classicline so i've now gone with them. 4.3, big brakes, exhaust system, nitrons all declared and just over £400 for 5k miles with guaranteed value. Not too bad for a 35yr old male driver I think. Mines coming up for renewal so will try the usual suspects, I think Reiss and Footman James were suggested to me recently as well.

Out of interest. You guys running decats, do you declare them?

Yes and remaps and notify DVLA of engine size changes otherwise your insurance could be null and void .

That's great, but aren't decats illegal? Thus invalidating insurance? Also if plod were to pull you over and you insurance docs show decay are you opening yourself up to a fine?

Currently with Mannings and the modified engine adds ~10% on to the quote. Pretty sure MSM insurance will provide cover as well.

For decats I've declared them as "modified exhaust".

I'm with Mannings, too. Modified Tam with agreed value. When I told my previous insurers about the 4.3 upgrade, they cancelled my policy immediately! hehe

Classic-line, read out a list of mods and waited for the guy to say double premium and he said plus 40 quid or something silly and my list of mods is very long

Thanks... Looking rather sad at the moment as it was a filthy day when I drove it up from Berkshire.... I think I need to get up there and clean the engine bay whilst it's out... I can't believe how filthy and black it is !!! Where does all that sh*te come from ?? I thought I was quite good at general, non-OCD cleaning !!

Looking forward to getting the 4.5 engine upgrade...

Hey Mike,
How's the car been treating you the past few years? Interesting you are considering an engine swap - I considered an LS3 swap during my ownership and now deeply regret not keeping the car and doing just that!
I hope all is well thumbup

Mannings for me. £350 for a 4.3, de-cat, nitrons, ACT exhaust, 5k pa and agreed value of 38k. I’m 41 and the car is garaged.
More importantly I can also (unfortunately) vouch for just how bloody good they are in the event of a claim, especially when something goes wrong with the repairing cowboys, I mean garage. Without Mannings help I’d have been severely screwed so I have a lot of loyalty towards them.

Classicline were superb.

Dropped a fair list of new toys including an additional 700cc, sports exhaust etc on them and next to no change.

Had nothing but superb service from them.

+1 for Mannings.
I do a lot more miles than Zippee and use mine for business mileage so my premium is higher but can also vouch for their cover in the event of a claim. Whether that is down to their own staff or choice of underwriters. I too now have a lot of loyalty towards them.

Richard Eggar is worth a punt if you use it more regularly, to and from work etc.
