Im currently looking at buying a new T350 one of the ones ive seen doesnt have aircon, i Told the dealer i wouldnt buy it without aircon.
He has offered to fit it and add 1k to the overall cost.
They are fitting it not TVR.
As this dealer is over 200 miles away the question i have is this:-
How might this alter the 3 yr tvr warranty and potentially what might be the issues of using my local dealer for warranty work.
My local dealer has said that they dont mind doing warranty work if i buy from another dealer, they know i would ideally want to buy a car from them but cos of the price increases im restricted to looking at new cars in stock under old price list, but not sure how retro fitting a/c might affect all this

If it is fitted properly, with original parts, I don't see a problem.

Strange that a new car even exists without aircon. I'd suggest that the dealer will have helluva job shifting this car and you should perhaps press for an even better price (i.e. they're not going to sell it otherwise).

All IMHO.

If your local dealer is aware of the reason you are looking in other dealeerships and is happy to do the warranty work.....why don't you buy the T350 and then ask your local dealer to fit the aircon unit.

They at least then get the sale on that and, if it goes wrong, will be fixing their own work instead of someone elses.

Suppose it comes down to money, The dealer in question has said that the parts for the a/c are 1600 and 12 hours labour to fit so i suppose about 3k in total, according to him some changes need to be made to the rad layout.
However he has agreed to fit it and add only 1k to the cost, which is in my budget.
If i take to my dealer i suppose im looking at another 3k on top

Are they fitting TVR's own air con system? Thats a waste of £1000 as its not that good. If the a/c was designed by someone else it might be better than
the TVR one

Oops...Andy...sorry mate but have to disagree with that one.

The air con in our Cerb worked, but was, we thought, just overpowered by the heat that came off the engine..had the air con checked and was told by Kerriges that it worked just fine.

The air con in the Sagaris is on another planet.
It is by freezing!!

Chalk and cheese jobby....and the Sagaris does get hot, hot, hot....

My only real experience of TVR A/C, until last month, was in a Cerb. I agree it does struggle to be effective.

I recently had a loan T350, and the A/C is as good as on any mass produced euro-box. I will be looking at a retro fit on the Sagais. Trouble is that the factory service depratment, who used to retro-fit, are no longer there. To stay with warranty, I will get my dealer to retro-fit at a cost of around £2K.

You, an airco, John, going soft? About time they launch a Sag convertible then.
How is the Sag anyway?

Its fine Jo thanks, just waiting for its next Hillclimb on the 28th August. Cars run-in now and will have revised steering geometary and sticky rubber so I should be able to enjoy myself .

Just back afetr a run with our Dutch friends around the Scottish Highlands. The Dutch TVR owners really are a breath of fresh air, no complaining or moaning, just enjoying there cars for what they were built for.

.......did someone mention Zolder

Hi, I recently bought a Tuscan Mk1 without A/C. I loved the car, all except no A/c. Having asked a local specialist whether it is possible to retro-fit, and at what cost I got the reply about 2-3K. I negotiated this cost off the cost of the car, but the garage now say they would not recommend it!
So, question is - can anyone recommend or know someone who has done this successfully..?

Try Str8Six or Brendan at Concept Performance....

It's about £2-3k and there won't be many doing it which is why buying a car with A/C is a must.
