I was so shocked when Hillfoot pulled out of TVR d3ealing that I thought about a refund. The dealer said speak to TVR first, and if no joy, (I got the same non-refundable, bu transferrable story) and if TVR didn't play, the dealer offered to pay me a cheque. Not much help, but having read the reviews, I'm glad I'm going ahead. I ws asked to spec. mine 2 months ago, but I've waited until the cash is sitting in my account - which it now is!!!! Typically, it's shutdown week at the factory, so Ill have to wait to book my factory tour until next week. The only thing I could suggest, speed 12, is looking at second hand Chimps at the factory, and get one for your p/ex + £1000 plus whatever else you feel comfortable with spending...

compared to other PH threads, I'd hardly say that there's a witch hunt going on here

I thought about a refund on my Tuscan deposit when my circumstances changed in '99 and I moved to the States and was told that the factory would put the deposit on 'hold' (not sure if 1175GBP+interest will keep 'em afloat until I return though!) When I suggested selling the deposit onto another customer they didn't encourage me, nor suggest they would stop me (it would be my 3rd new TVR). I know that they were against 'speculative' deposits in the past and had tried to stop the practice, but lets be honest, they need the sales right now. This of course assumes that they make more than 1175GBP per car profit....
As for my deposit - I'm looking forward to a fully sorted Tuscan S when I return sometime in 2004...

"Just out of curiosity you realise" but... I wonder how many people would order a £37,500 sports-car at the motor show with the stated intention of "selling it on" within the year? Given that most of a cars depreciation is in the first year this certainly indicates a "money no object" approach to life. I would have thought most people would want to enjoy their new "pride and joy" for at least a couple of english summers! Rich...

A guy I work with is based in Singapore but spends a fair amount of time in the UK where he keeps his Cerbera. He ordered a Tuscan R at last years motor show to replace it and then changed his mind when he found out more about it and realised that it would need more factory servicing than his Cerby.

He couldn't get a refund on his deposit and has now ordered a Chimaera for Singapore, keeping the Cerbera for the UK.

Couldn't the dealer giver you back the equivalent of your deposit?
Then the next Tamora order they get, keep the deposit from that customer offsetting the cash refunded to you, the new customer can then have your order slot.

Seems quite easy!

if that were the case Speed12 wouldn't be worried about losing £1K would he?

Having taken delivery of the 8th Tuscan off the line, I used it for 5 months and it was then sold on for what I paid - so you don't necessarily lose anything if you're quick.

BTW before you flame me for being a speculator - I sold it to buy a better one

Mike, i) As I said, I was just curious ii) I didn't mention the guy with the Tomara deposit and iii) why should I flame you?

When I bought my Griff 500 it was exactly what I wanted, it still is. If TVR had since released say an AJP V8 version with the latest Tuscan suspension etc. then perhaps like you I would be selling mine to move on? R...

Ok speed12.

Free legal advice (rare indeed) from a barrister who loves cars.

If you didn't see the terms and conditions before you signed, then the terms and conditions are invalid (Thornton v Shoe Lane Parking) - basically this case concerned a bloke who parked his car in a multistorey and it was vandalised due to shit security.

The disclaimer on the wall of the carpark was INSIDE and only visible AFTER he entered the car park by taking his ticket from the machine. He couldn't read them before hand.

They were therefore NOT VALID and the car park could not rely on the exclusion.

Catch my drift?

OK - go to a solicitor and pay 'em £50 to write a stonking letter threatening them with a claim and all the publicity that goes with it.

Collect your deposit.
