Anyone selling their Tamora?

It does indeed Marcus - I got the nod the Tuesday after we spoke at Pistonfest. Just waiting for all the paperwork to be sorted out, and then, hmmm......!
Incidentally, did you get the Tuscan sorted - you said it was sounding a bit rough?

Glad to hear it's sorted out. I should think that is one hell of a relief.
I am going to pick the Tuscan up from TMS this afternoon. They have told me it just needed setting up properly and is now running 100 times better than it was, which will be interesting as it wasn't exactly slow before.
Cheers,
Marcus

Glad you are ok Nubbin.
Good to see the strength of the car saved your bacon, but could it have been a mechanical fault that chucked you off the road?
What are you replacing it with?
Cheers Glenn
I'll be looking for another Tamora, Glenn - not sure whether to go for a new one, or second hand - it depends on what's available - I've noticed the good Tamoras are getting snapped up very quickly. I'll wait until the insurance is sorted, then decide.
I think Nigel's(Lewis) is still up for sale at Castle's. Certainly was a looker, Rosso pearl(think I maybe wrong on this but it was a dark ruby red metalic) with Anthracite wheels. Don't know what they are asking for it though!
Glad to see you are sticking with the Tam. If you went for new, any optional extras you would pick that you didn't have on the old one?
Herd they are doing an "RR" on the T350 but not sure you can get on the Tam.

I've heard that they will not do the 390bhp upgrade on the Tamora - I presume they want the T350 to be the fastest.
I will ask for Tuscan S brakes, and lumbar supports, but otherwise there would be little I would change - oh, sports exhaust, but I've got one waiting, though I might change the design of that because, I have to admit, it was actually TOO LOUD!! And, I'll have Ambla, rather than Bison trim.

Glad to hear your ok after looking at your roll. Seems to me that the steel tube that they have put round inside the windscreen surround saved you. One of the improvements over the griff/chim cars.
Excuse my timing what with the accident but is the car going to be written off by the insurance company and if so do you have the option of purchasing it back off them as scrap after its been written off? Might be interested.
Anyway good to hear that a ph's is all in one piece after an accident.
cheers
alex
Alex, the car is written off, but I imagine the car will be sold for salvage, the estimated cost of repair being £33k +VAT! The engineers report mentioned engine and gearbox damage, but I don't know what that means - the radiator was ripped off but I can't see how the 'box would be damaged - it's very close to where I was, and I didn't get damaged!
Everything needs replacing though - from the chassis outwards - if you need a project, good luck, but I think it would be a lot of work, and a hell of a lot of money - a body tub is £20k+ to start with!
It was interesting chatting to the engineer - he told me of a Chimaera he saw last year, which went sideways into a tree, and completely crushed the driver area into the central backbone of the chassis - sadly, the driver was killed, (and I apologise if that brings up painful memories for anyone). I would not like to suffer the same sort of crash in a Griff or Chimaera, that's for sure - my only conclusion is that the Tamora/Tuscan/T350 chassis forms an extremely strong safety cage, with very good roll over protection. But don't go out to prove me wrong!!

I like the look of this one at TMS in Chameleon Orange
And from the look of the website they've finally got shut of Flashers old motor, wonder if they sold it or got sick of the sight of it and chucked it through an auction
now thats a very nice combo......on a serious note, very glad you got away with that nubbin, looks like an extremely close shave
nubbin said:Glad you're ok - your final comment suggests that you realise you had overcooked it a little 'cos ABS wouldn't have helped you in a complete freak accident would it? Rich... Onwards and upwards eh!
I'm not really sure what happened - I wa braking on a dry, straight road, near to home, and the next thing I knew...
...Shame that ABS might have prevented so serious a crash, but that's a debate for another day.
nubbin glad to hear that you are okay, that you manged to walk away from a upside down slide though a field does as you say go to prove the strengh of the car - no need for any pop up roll over bars or the like.
Are you able to e-mail (e-mail address in profile) me the details of where the car is and the name of your insurance company? I'd be very interested to see what they want for it......

Rach, I say this because there seems no reason why I lost control - I did brake hard, but no harder than I've done on many other occassions, without drama. All I can remember is hitting the brake pedal, and the next thing was the sound of rushing grass as the car ploughed through the hedge. i didn't even gat any sound of screeching tyres, no smell of rubber, no sensation of the car breaking away - nothing. It must be driver error, because nothing else was involved. My only thought was a puncture or some diesel on the road, something like that.
I mention ABS because if it was my braking too heavily, and inducing a skid after locking up, that aspect at least would have been prevented by ABS. The rest would then be down to fate. Ah, well, lots of driver training will help!!
Hmm... does seem a little odd Nubbin... *maybe* something did break? Any idea if the investigators will look into this?
Either way, glad you're in one piece, and you have huge respect from me for saying you believe it was "driver error" - takes a big man to admit something like that IMHO...

nubbin said:Wow Nubbin you are a lucky chap, I wonder if something did break? But what puzzles me is the loss of memory between braking and rolling? Are you sure you didn't black out as you braked - not wanting to alarmist (or cheeky )but have you been checked out head'wise - could even have been a very minor epileptic seizure (petit mal)? Reason I say this is because I had an experience a couple of weeks ago - nearly killed myself - (another story but I was in my glider) and I can certainly remember the full sequence of events as if it were a slo-mo movie! Mind you it reinforced what I did wrong! Rich...
