Anyone selling their Tamora?
Discussion
Interesting thought Rich - the lack of memory is more to do with the very short time span for the whole event - I can remember being upside down, dust getting into my mouth, trying to press myself upwards into the seat and tuck my head down to avoid head/neck injury, and even watching the ground sliding past "above" me! So, I was obviously aware that I was upside down, and able to quickly work out what to do to try to avoid injury - I can remember repeating in my head "keep down, keep down" and then struggling to undo the seat belt because my weight was on it, then shouting at myself, "Get out, get out" (thinking about fire), realising I was trapped by the side windows being pressed into the ground, and kicking the window out to drag myself free.
My experience of blackouts (I'm a G.P.) is very different to my situation. I may be absent-minded, but it's very different to absence of mind!!

nubbin said:Fair do's, you know how you are then! - I guess I was referring to the point between braking and getting upside down. My experience was that I managed to break the cable on a winch launch at around 250' . Witnesses say I took about 3 sec's to react i.e. push the stick forward to re-gain flying speed - pray a wing doesn't drop putting you into a spin - and recover from the dive. In fact I know I slammed that stick forward the very instant I heard the cable break but it took a v e r y long time for the nose to come down (the 3 sec's people on the ground were referring to) and then what seemed like an e t e r n i t y nose down staring at the tarmac waiting for the speed to build up to around 55 kts. (60 mph.) before I felt I had enough speed to pull out of the dive. At this point of course the runway was coming up to hit me very fast and I remember it well, had I run of height I wouldn't have really known about it because I was concentrating so hard on what I was doing. Apparently I had about 50' left - not much, say the height of a house point being that a frightening experience didn't make me loose memory of parts of it. Anyway you are safe and well that's all that really matters. Rich...

I like the look of this one at TMS in Chameleon Orange
And from the look of the website they've finally got shut of Flashers old motor, wonder if they sold it or got sick of the sight of it and chucked it through an auction
now thats a very nice combo......on a serious note, very glad you got away with that nubbin, looks like an extremely close shave
If you're interested in the Chameleon Orange Tamora at TMS I can tell you any details you want to know. It's the one I'm in the process of p/x'ing for the 350.
Thanks for the thoughts everyone - I had a look at the road immediately after the accident, and there was very little to see - not really much in the way of tyre marks or anything - perhaps some dirty and crossed-over marks but no black trails - almost as if there had been no skid at all.
Still, I'm alive and glad of it!!

Bloody hell! Glad you're OK!
I had a close shave yesterday - swerved to avoid a Pheasant at about 110mph (stupid idea, should have just run it over). As I swerved back I overdid it a little and the car lost some stability but then it recovered instantly. Times like that and you remember to ease off a little. Be careful out there and keep it sunny side up everyone.
Now then Nubbin, about that life assurance....

'Run it over' wise words.
I once swerved to avoid a rabbit sitting in the inside lane on the M5, it's the biker in me honest... Anyway, after flattening several yards of central reservation it spun back across 3 lanes and took out the armco on the hard shoulder protecting the gantry, before coming to its final resting place back in the inside lane. Luckily it was 5am on a Sunday so no one else was involved.
The car (Rover Tomcat) was written off and I needed 6 stitches to a head wound.
The Police that picked me up thought it was bloody hilarious.
They also advised murder rather than avodiance when driving at speed.

Yep, James helped me spec it up - I wanted an orange car but was looking for something cheaper than Chameleon Orange, I think James ended up dreaming in orange trying to find the right colour - even took photos of trim colours and emailed them to me! Top job - ended up with a really impressive colour combination (I did end up having the legit' Chameleon paint). Yours was one of the options - nice
Nubbin,
Glad you're ok. Sorry, but I'm a little late in spotting this topic.
Out of interest, do you remember how fast you were going when you applied the anchors? Did the road bend after you flipped over because your momentum would have been carrying you forwards? It's a little worrying that the car went off a straight road...
Hope there's not a fundamental weakness in these cars?
Anyway, hope you get another Tiv.
Regards

nubbin - we haven't heard from you re. Tamora replacement. How's it going - any progress? Did you get your insurance sorted - no delayed effects from your inverted ride? Hope everything's working out.
Good luck.
jigs
PS In honour of your lucky escape I think you should change your name to 'unppiu' or should that be 'uiqqnu'? Was it just inverted or back-to-front inverted?
Good luck.

My goodness, nubbin. I am so glad you walked away from that.
Seeing your car and my recent experience on the M4 has really shaken me up re cars and their inherent safety. I know that driving skill is the biggest safety enhancement one can have but all the same the car itself is what keeps you alive once its all gone wrong.
Good to know the Tamora protected you and kept you safe...
Will there be any investigation into the cause?

Can you animate it, jigs? It should look something like the 3D words screensaver in Windows!
I'm waiting until next Spring to get a replacement - I've just bought a replacement family car, so I need to do a bit of saving to recoup that cash. but then I will be going for something with a bit more colour!
