Chips away or similar.

Anyone have any experience with those chips away (or similar) companies. Have a very small gouge on the rear of my Tamora (red bull blue) and was wondering if these guys would be able to do a good job of masking it or not.

Dealer can't get it in for a while and it's really annoying me!

On something like Red Bull I would be more inclined to take it to a proper bodyshop than let a man with a van potentially leave you with the paint equivalent of a plaster...

My Tamora is Rosso Pearl and they couldn't do a thing to repair a tiny little scratch. Suggested I go to a dealer and respray the rear end!

Something about Pearl colours being impossible to touch up?

I have used them on three occassions and cannot speak highly enough of the quality of work they do. What they will and will not do varies from agent to agent, so sometimes its worth getting a couple of them within the area to take a look. The guys who also do commercial stuff will pretty much take on anything.

They can save you an absolute fortune.

Was thinking of getting them to have a go at the front end of the Griff. It's not too bad but there are a couple of chips and scratches that need looking at. I was quoted almost £1000 for a front end respray whilst chips away estimated about £100. I'm going to give them a go. If it looks naff I'll just have to go for the respray at some point but if it saves me £900 I'll be well happy.

Sorry i`ve got to disagree with you on this one, if you can get an experienced guy round he will be able to match more or less any colour from his computor/microfiche the only reference you will need to ask is which main dealers does he do work for my old "chipsaway" guy did new cars and his matching was always 100% IMHO of course Tony

I used Chips Away to repair a graze on one of my previous cars. Fantastic job, and very reasonably priced at £65.00! My local dealer had quoted £400!

However, I spoke at length to the guy about TVR's as I was about to buy my first one. He said that the reflex paints we are no-no for him but anything else was ok.

As far as quality goes I can't recommend them enough.

Thanks for the opinions guys/gals. Tempted to have them out and let them loose on it. From a brief telephone call I'm looking at about £60 for the repair. Dealer wants several times that. At worse I've spent £60 on a repair that will see me through to it's 6k service when I can have it done properly.

Good advice on asking which dealers he/she takes care of.
