Can we please stop all this name calling and answer the nice question asked by grif2be?

Which, I might add, is the lightweight version

Edited to say its even lighter since that nasty tall man with the moustache and Northern accent made me give the engine back.

And it'll be lighter still when I give 220 his gearbox back

Look, I'm genuinely interested ok?

Without descending into name calling, yes?

Tivster - you say that one could look at you car and see the differences in the body shell. But this is in the construction rather than the shape.

Given I am in the Channel Islands right now and my eyesight isn't that good, please would you tell me what visible differences there are on your car versus a 'normal' T350, and at what stage in the ordering process did you request these differences, or indeed were made aware of their existence?

(There, I asked nicely - so you T boys play nicely too, or I'll embarrass you all in my 'proper' Tuscan)

The body shell was laid up and the work completed by the guys who make the moulds ie the master laminators. It shows - there are no body fit/gap imperfections anywhere. Any minor imperfections will have been hidden by the paint in any case. There are no easily discernible differences compared to the standard shell. It is noticeable though when for instance you compare the bonnet to the standard bonnet.

The option for the Performance pack began as an engine and brake upgrade for £5K then progresses to include the body shell. I was not made aware of the body shell difference until delivery and only after a call to the factory to get the full details.

And after a long discussion all was made clear. The dealer hadn't even been told at that point, although they had asked on my behalf. They passed on a request for me to phone the factory direct.

If Flasher is big enough to swallow his ego, then I'm quite happy for him to speak to the factory (I'll give him the necessary information to id the car) and I'll ask them to tell him exactly what the car's specs are.....

So put up or shut up...

What difference can you see in the bonnet? Presumably nothing from the outside, is it from looking at the underside?

Thickness, rigidity, weight and funny enough smell (go on laugh at that one!)

Not being funny - but why did they bother? It costs more to make, you didn't order it, you didn't know you were getting it and you didn't (knowingly) pay for it.

Perhaps is the accountant in me, but why throw in a desirable extra cost feature without 1) publicising it and 2) charging for it?

I'm not doubting you - but you have to admit it sounds like the factory have lost their senses!

So business as usual then

Tivster, other than being put into the mould by a slightly more senior person (no doubt using the same methods as any other person), is there actually a difference in the construction? Is it x layers thinner or use some special material? A Carbon Fibre body would be nice but expensive to repair!

Well, yes and no - you said yourself you had no idea about it until after delivery. So you happily paid your money for your performance upgrade pack. Then got the car and found you had something you didn't know you were getting, but for the same money.

Put another way, had your car not had this special body, would you have complained about the lack of it, since you didn't know about it?

I mean if I go and buy a packet of fags, but then upgrade to Superkings, pay my money, open the pack and then find it full of cuban cigar......

....where am I going with this.....?

Well I think you see what I mean. Why give someone something for nothing? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick - were you offered a lightweight body at extra cost?

Sorry. Its just the other one got locked and I'm still politely trying to get more info about the Tivsterwagon.

Pleased you got your car back. It seems to have changed colour - or is it just the light?

Must admit I do like the T350 a lot! Maybe if I don't race next year.......

Why is it that whenever I read posts by Tivster and Flasher I cant stop thinking about Vic Reevs and Bob Mortimer?

Oh thats it.....

You wouln't let it lie....

Anyhow back to the thread do all T350s suffer from the bad stone chiping that Flasher had or is it just his car?
I asume that because of the shape at the front the 350 is more susceptable but that looks like rather a lot.

Its the same colour Andy. Red Bull blue. It was the dull grey light that makes it look different.
