Sadly that was on our previous model. Our current Vantage S was delivered with a plaque that had NO name on it but instead it had 'SP10' eek At the time the SP10 was only available in Ceramic Grey and ours was Stratus White rolleyes When Rob queried who had done the final inspection he was told that there was no way of verifying this. To his comment that the person in question must have been f'ing stupid or couldn't give a f*ck the people from Gaydon could not manage a response (& this was face to face)

Don't wish to disillusion anyone but these plaques really are not worth the metal they are made of.

PS we love our Aston anyway

With the sheer number of problems that we initially had with the car it was patently obvious that no final inspection ever took place. I was also led to believe that the plaques live in a box and are randomly fitted to vehicles.

More importantly after a meeting with Paul Collett who is AM's UK After Sales Manager all our cars problems were subsequently resolved to my complete satisfaction. smile

I suspect that with the ever need for cost cutting at Gaydon the fitting of the plaques is nothing more than a bit of aged romanticism.

Sad but true frown

I view it as merely a gimmick and more of a marketing ploy for sales, the same view for the 150 point inspection.

Gaydon final inspection checklist:-

Did vehicle arrive at your station under own power - YES NO
If yes despatch to dealer

If no despatch to dealer with battery charger

Special instruction- check interior is Obsidian Black if not refer to Production and ensure owner sanity check has been completed.

Pearl was a nightmare, I remember hearing and seeing it when you first got it. I have to agree Paul Collet is the saving grace of after sales at AML he took my car under his wing too. He took me away from Stratstone Amersham and placed me at Works Service because Stratestone could not rectify the problems, frankly they were just a selling operation at this particular Statstone. WS realigned my customer experience and sorted all of my issues with new parts all FOC under manufacturers warranty (which is a must for any used car purchase) including collecting my vehicle on their lovely truck. Thank you to WS and Paul Collet.

I light of Barry Griffith & our factory inspection plates, nobody actually knows who really did their inspections. I wanted to share the inspection badge I designed and made with the help of our PH friend who we all know: thanks Tony... smile
What I can tell you, it is a great feeling for me to know the man who built the GT4 race engine for Teaspoon. The experience was very cool, I watched him build it from scratch each day (as I live so close to my Indie and could pop in on the way to work), awesome asking questions and getting such geeky technical answers in reply. Thanks Ade if you read this, this plate is for you smile !

G'Day,

Can somebody give me a tip how to recolour the writing on the inspection plate, the color is fading on mine.

Thanks

Ironically, the engine plate on my new 2015 came with the fading paint (actually more like rusted laser etching) straight from the factory. The dealership noticed it during the pre-delivery inspection and ordered me a replacement one but was told it was on back order. Also, on special editions like the GT and N430, the plate doesn't have the name of who carried out the final inspection.

The amazing Mr.Kevin Wild did the final inspection on mine.

He must be blind as I have noticed loads of things he missed or he may have been in a hurry to get to the pub (or was on a promise)
