I am thinking of using the car more and am not impressed by the lights. Has anybody fitted additional lights to the front of a DB9.

I was thinking about putting them behind the front grill like this

I was initially suprised by the lack of 'driving' lights on the DB9 but in practise haven't found myself wanting for them, having said that to have them subtly tucked away sounds like a pretty cunning plan (m'lord).

That's why I was going to let someone else try it first, see how they got on;)

Why? You would just look like a massive tosser basicly driving around with fog lights on. One of my pet hates, there is just no need for it ranting

What exactly is wrong with the normal lights? They are pretty good imo, and they don't dazzle people the same as dheads driving around with foglights on do.

If you can't see far enough ahead with the normal lights, I would get your eyes checked.

Have to agree about poor lights. Highlands, no light polution, nights are black and roads are unlit, the lights are pretty crap. Do agree with sentiments regarding fog lights though!

I thought my front lights were pretty poor when I first had my V8... It turned out that the self levelling mechanism wasn't working because a wire had become disconnected... The effect was that the lights pointed further down than would be the norm. Once corrected and with the lights properly level things were much improved...

Can you start a list for your George as well please - Don't forget to add Prom nights and manual gearboxes. I'm sure George's list will be as long as Mr Gould's

If your car doesn't have HID dipped beam just stick some 100W bulbs in.
Worked a treat on my Volvo.
My V8V has HID's so I could only put them in the mains which does help but only when I can use them wink

I recall having two x 100watt x 80's fitted to a motorcycle, the increased light was amazing plus I could fiddle with the dipped beam switch which meant they all came on. You need to have an electrical part fitted which stops your wiring loom overheating. I am now 55 and find glasses make no end of difference!!

Or slow down smile

V8V here and the lights are fine for similar conditions/roads (unlit, no light pollution). Nowhere near as good as my XC90's. But then they're 2ft lower and I'm sat 20ft lower in the AM!

PS I always thought lights that turned were a gimmick. They're pretty impressive and useful in the Volvo.

Because the standard lights are not very bright. I thought that would have been obvious by my (and othrs by the looks of things) desie have have better forward illumination.

You may have noticed that the motor industry has made significant improvements to the lights on cars over the last few years, this isnt purely cosmetic you understand.

Nah !

Georgeous' mood swings can be down to nothing more than a bit of nappy rash, too many food additives or a short supply of Oxy10.

Michael on the other hand is genuinely a moaning old git, albeit a loveable one.

Methinks Georgeous is just trying that bit too hard to be the second funniest person on the forum. smile

You may well be right.

Or I just generally dislike those absolute penises who drive around with fog lights on for no reason other than to dazzle fellow motorists. Especially us in low sports cars. Started off as a trend by chavs on their Corsas / Saxos etc and sadly now it seems that normal human beings are adopting it too.

Instead of extra front lights.... What about loads of extra reflectors at the back!!! Now wouldnt that be cool

Some of those triangular ones that used to dangle from each arm of my parker when I was 4 biglaugh

Just wondering why anyone would want more lights on an Aston?? The lights on mine, all be it when they are not being scratched by hooded thugs are the best lights ive had on any car....
