Last time a tunnel run was attempted as soon as I put foot to floor the speedlimit was dropped to 40mph.

Does anyone with local knowledge, a local person, know how that works?

It could just have been coincidence. However if it happens again you'll know that they are monitoring traffic cameras before the tunnel entrance.

Not a chance it was coincidence, as we left the limit went back up. We turned around on the roundabout and I was the first car back in... just to watch the sign go to 40mph again as I passed!

They're watching sadly and have no interest in a group of cars driving at legal speeds througha tunnel for some reason. I'm not even sure what they're doing is legal or safe?

Lots of locals lashed out at the louts with "illegal" cars ruining their quality of life despite them living a mile away or more from the tunnel. Lets not confuse safe, with politics. I am sure the highways agency can legally run the variable speed limit however they like.

It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that they monitor popular websites for hints of tunnel runs.

I can see how a group of cars wanting to enjoy the tunnel together being percieved as a risk, as they may tend to slow down then speed up rapidly.

Tricky one.

Numbers are nocking up.... Good result already...

Amazing what power a bacon butty has... hehe

We could do a quick blast through the tunnel and maybe head over to Boxhill for a burger and coffee?? From my bike days the burgers from the cafe at the bottom of Boxhill were huge and tasty... Plus a good mixture of bikes and sometimes cars to look at...

That sounds ideal to me matey! Be good to go for a decent drive out this time. If anyone else knows the way from the tunnel to Box Hill, maybe we can split into two or more groups and leave 5 mins between each group..? Stand a better chance of getting there wihout losing anyone that way maybe wink

I know some routes, with mildly interesting roads - will try and avoid traffio hotspots. Once I've worked it out (I know them but will have to check maps to give other directions) I'll let people know and they cna email me - saves us having it all over t'internet. Or I can print off copies and hand them out at Trinity.

Much better idea Neil wink If you and Paul laise and come up with the same route, the group can be split in half.

God, I'm such a micro manager for an event I'm not even organising!
