Hello all.
collected my 'previously owned' DB9 today, from AM dealer on south coast. Couldn't wish for a better experience. really attentive, knowledgeable and courteous. Car is perfect in every way, except Mrs BB doesn't like the central ski-slope colour and wants me to change it. Can get a good looking Piano black replacement on ebay, but it was suggested to me that maybe one of these car wrap outfits could apply some wizardry and hide the bits Mrs BB doesn't like, and it would cost significantly less... Anyone on here attempted an 'in situ' internal trim wrap before..?

Can't be done in situ I don't think, air vents need to be popped pop out and button bezels removed, satnav screen covered properly, it'll have to come off for sure. Get the piano black one, I take it you have leather door cappings? Or get yours done at a paint shop, the likes of Chiltern Aston will do it for you. Congrats on the car

Central "ski-slope"? Do you mean the centre console?

Not wrapping exactly, but I'm about to change mine to lovely, shiny Carbon Fibre!
Once it's been removed, it would be a very simple piece of plastic for a professional wrapper to do though.

I have a single hole for the starter button but I've managed to find a spare which is being custom made for me. They are happy to custom make any part apparently. They are also sourcing a couple of other parts for me to match.
I hope to post some pictures in a months or so time.....

Thought I'd share what I decided to do about changing the the ski slope / console colour.
Rather than buy a new panel from AM and have it fitted by AM.....or buy a 'new one' from 'the bay' and attempt to fit it myself/have it fitted, I decide to approach from a different angle. I had a conversation with a friendly AM dealer about options and he pointed me in the direction of a company they had used before based in Exeter called 'Garnishdip'. They use a process that does not involve wrapping, but some another one that involves printing a finish on the existing panel, 'dipping' it and then lacquering.....I reviewed their website for experience and options and sought clarifications with them by email and phone. I have now entrusted them to remove my existing walnut coloured ski slope and 'garnish' it in a new finish. Choosing the finish was the difficult part as they have a few that would look really good in the Aston. I could have gone to town and done the ski slope and matched the door caps too, but as they are already leather (not walnut coloured) there was no need to. I settled on Piano Black, a variant I have seen in other cars. IMHO it looks modern but classic at the same time....
Garnishdip's technician turned up in Hampshire carefully removed the panel and have taken it away to be treated. Approx. 7 calendar days post removal the panel will be returned and refitted. There is no impact on mechanical warranty. This is by far an away the most cost effective solution for at £300 plus VAT.
FYI.

Quite an interesting technique Brin, printing straight onto the substrate, which is not too dissimilar to a 'flocking' technique I witnessed north of Barcelona a few years back. Quite straightforward process as you require only a single colour rather than a complex design. Unlike a wrap, though, you will face a different set of challenges if you were to revert to the original design. In due course....Pics please
