In an effort to keep this stuff in one place...

I'll be changing out all 4 tyres later this week for Michelin Pilot Super Sports from OEM Bridgestones.

I'm an advocate of the Bridgestone tyres - always found them very good. The Michelins are more expensive, and my front Bridgestones were probably only half worn (rears are shot though), so it's not a cheap experiment. However I'm not one to justify expenditure to myself so I'll give a straight comparison of the two.

Rear Bridgestones have been fine but have just started to notice them be a little more skittish very recently. If they're not on the wear markers they aren't far off. Car remains a safe steer. Hasn't tried to kill me yet.

Rears were 335 each (only ~25 more than the Bridgestones - think prices must have gone up recently??)
Fronts were 274 each (~20 more than the Bridgestones).

I think this year might be an expensive year for the Vantage with all the stars aligning...will probably need pads and discs all round at the next service, and at 47k I guess I could be living on borrowed time with the clutch smile

The RE050's are well known for getting skittish at about 3 mm of tread
I'll be keen to hear how you get on as my rears will be next month

These have been sub 3mm for the last 8mths (not sure how many miles, but it must be a couple of thousand at least). I think they're sub 2mm now and am only just noticing the change properly.

And when I say skittish, everything's still in control. Can just feel the rear losing grip a bit, especially on poor road surfaces.

I've had 23k miles out of each set of rears. Fronts have lasted 30k miles - still lots left on this second set but was interested to see how the Michelins work out.

From a bout 3mm on they get more and more skittish with wet or cold.
You've done well to get that sort of mileage out of them!

Never noticed it as a problem though. And even with new tyres it feels this way on poor surfaces.

I've never been too hard on tyres generally. The one exception thus far being the XC90 biggrin Same with brakes and clutches (changed the clutch twice in my old 355 as got nervous it was going, and both times there was still at least 25% left).

Just picked up some tasty Mich Super Sports 235/40/19 from Kwik Fit for £420 Fully Fitted.

They cant beat black circle but they come very close.

Were you running Michelin before or Bridgestone? I'll be interested to know how they compare.

FYI, a (non-chain) tyre place near to me did a pair of the slightly larger Vantage S size (245/40/19) PSS for £399. The whole set of 4 (285/35 on the rear) was £916. smile

And you currently (ie until the end of the month) get £100 back from Michelin if you buy 4 tyres.

So the full set cost me £816. biggrin

I got my Pirelly winter tyres for the Aston and Falken winter tyres for wife's Fiat500. Best prices I found, fast delivery no problems. Would use them again.

I've used oponeo a couple of times and the service has been very good, Tyreleader were more competitive on the last ones for the wifes BMW and their delivery was even quicker.

They are fine if all goes well.

They sent me one tyre in the wrong size (from a set of 4).

It was the devil's work to get them to sort it.

Jokers.

I think that's a pretty standard problem with any site/company/mail order when things get slightly complicated and it's mega unfortunate when it happens.
