I can only imagine about the A/C one is that as it cuts in when you start the car it makes a noise a bit like the click.
I imagine its got more to do with something like if the AC Comp is active there is more parasitic loss on the engine which the system will learn during clutch kiss point and disenagage. The clutch is 'taught' during reference conditions (with no electrical or additional parasitic loss / loads) and when these variables occur in the real world the software adapts to the condition by applying calibrated offsets.

I feel i have done all i can on that one Nick... 'Lance' should have done his part to save the planet.. a bit... and deliver more MPG at the same time as packing a bigger punch. But in the hands of the Cockernee i'm sure that improvement is one that will go totally unnoticed... smile

I just had a clutch wear assessment at the dealer and can no longer hear the clutch learn click. Any thoughts?

The clutch learn click only happens when the car is started from cold, was the car at operating temperature when you tried it?

I'm curious as to how the dealer measures wear on a clutch and then reports it as a data point. Is it done through the electronics somehow?

This can only be done on a sportshift gearbox using AMDS, I believe they can establish some sort of electronic count or actuations from the ASM (Auto Shift Manual) Control Module (I cannot remember the exact terminology) and this is recorded as a Clutch Wear Index

Can't believe a modern car should need to go through this rigmarole, just so the clutch can lastrofl

Do any other cars need to do this??
Same as my numerous paddle shift smart cars, lots of buzzing and whirring as the screw-jack that operates the dry clutch plates to adjust both tolerances and
temp sensor

Yes when cold.
Called the dealer back and was told that the click does not matter, hold the brake until the Neutral light comes on and the learn process is complete.
In a post somewhere the same was stated "when you first start the car while cold, your ECU docking station will be dimmed light and the "N" button will not be lit. When the clutch is learnt the docking station light will go brighter, and the LED for "N" will turn on"
Would love to know what is meant by docking station light?
Queen's english I am OK with US english I am OK with, Aston Martin english baffles me when it come to look for things in the workshop manual smile

OK got it but in my 2009 the docking station light dim's does not go brighter.
Start cold with A/C off (to avoid confusing the issue) with foot brake applied. After a few seconds the "N" light comes on and a second or two later the docking light goes DIM and the click is heard.

I was at works factory and was taken through the learn process. The ‘click’ myth has nothing to do with the learn process. Start engine when cold. Foot on brick and wait till idling settles (below 1000 about 800). Engine off. tech advised to do this about 5 times. She drove home very nicely after wink
