Live about an hours drive from a dealer. Once concern is that if an issue occurs if and when I get a DB9 from a dealer thus under warrenty is that its and hours drive there and back for warrenty work- do dealers do a drop off for a CC or come out to collect? I presumre that if non starting then a recovery service with hire car.

Hesitant in getting an AM due to the distance to the nearest dealer and the certainty of works being required and the time involved. Lewes Sussex area - nearest is Chichester.

This is something that you agree with the dealer in question (preferably before you buy the car) but it should not be a major concern. I had a DB9 for 5 years and the visits to the dealer outside the normal service schedule were few and very far between so in no way did that hamper the enjoyment of owning it. If the dealer is not cabable of collection/bringing you can always deal with Works Service who will sort you out (at a price!).

I got a quote from a dealer for a service and a collect/return service was included in the quoted price.

However i managed to getter a better price more local to me so i will sort my own transport for this occasion. But i was offered a courtesy car but the dealer is that close to me it's not worth it.

Long time no see ! (remember Preston Street Brighton ?)

I only live a few miles east of you and had a V8V for 3 years and truly loved it.

Chichester did collect (mostly) for any warranty work, for small quick jobs I used to drive down and hang about in the city for an hour or so. All the roundabouts en route were good fun !

Used them for my first (the car's second) service, then discovered the now defunct DMS in Derby for the rest - well worth the drive IMHO.

I learnt from experience that the majority of the niggles are just that, the Vantage is a robust beast, and you don't need to lose too much sleep over the occasional warning light, squeak etc. Wait a bit and get them all sorted in one hit !

PM me if you want any further info on Chichester, or living day to day with an Aston.

Don't you dare drive through my village - you'll confuse my mistress !!

I though I recognised that PH name - tap tap at the window !! I haha

Thanks for the reply Nick appreciated. After I saw you, I broke the 996tt into a tree and went all Landlrover for a few years - its only now Im after a something a bit more fun and stylish although to pursade the wife that another 2+2 (Db9) would be ok is a tricky one. An E AMG may be a better bet but I hoping for an AM of some description to enjoy & drive before the younglins are too big to fit in a DB9 hence AM first then when Im ready to chill and the kids bigger something bigger.

Derby is a long drive for a service -!

A DB9 can hardly be called a 2+2. The rear seats would jus about fit an anorexic midget who's had his legs amputated .....the rear seat are useless......but the car is wonderful

Soon you'll be able to get a Rapide at the same price as a DB9 and all your problems will be solved!!

Yep- Understand they are tighter than the gap between Pro Hawkins and his electric chair.

my younglins are twins at 7 and one at 4 so I can get at least 2 of them in if one is in the passenger seat and is moved forward and one behind. The 3rd can go in the boot or run fast.

wink

Dont think I can wait that long for the curve to fall, but unless I can get the dealer to retro-fit a rag top or I become good at DIY then I wish to aim for a DB9 ragy.

If I get a DB9 it should be a rag top - Quite converted to a convertable now, gives the birds a fighting chance of landing one on me or at least a can red bull.

Only a couple of miles east of me then. Although I haven't needed to yet, i'm sure I could arrange for Harwoods to pick my Vantage up and drop it off again if it needed work. After all you are buying a prestige marque and the dealers should want to look after you.

Of course the reality is quite often very different from that though...

Dont wish to kill your dream of owning an DB9 but kids in the back of an Aston is a joke ......I suggest you try before you buy......90% os DB9 owners have alternative transport for their children .....8% are so old they can't remember if they ever had children

no rain - just the wrong clothes.

yes

We have a Disco3 for the family to bash and be sick in. If I get a DB9 90% of the time its just me, 7% its me and 1 youngling and then 2% its me and 2 younglings and then 1% its all 3.

AM V8V as its is clear to even the most optomistic illusionist is a 2 seater whereas with the squish of an eye and flurry of the hands and a pair of speedos a DB9 could be classed as having rear seats. Rapieedo is too far up the curve and not a rag.

So long as I can get two of them in the DB9 the wife wont notice the slight of hand. and number 3 is quiet - she wont sqeek too much from the boot.

All 4 issues I´ve had under warranty - including getting a sidelight bulb changed - have involved phoning Stratstone and asking them to collect the car. Everytime it has been promptly collected, fixed, cleaned then returned usually on the same day.

I noted with interest a posting from another PHer on a previous thread, claiming that AM sets aside 5k per car for warranty work on each car. I am unsure of the authenticity and veracity of such a claim, but, if correct, you have already paid for this service anyway.

Don´t live in fear wink

I would concur that my experience (with Stratstone wilmslow) has been first class in relation to warranty work

Activly looking for a DB9 with dealers at the moment. Green light from the wife - and the kids have been learning to curl into a boot shape.

How flexible are dealers on their prices - are DB9s in the region of 56k to 60k shifting like hot cakes, will there be say 1500 do able etc of their asking price?

In the past three months my local AM dealer has had two older/cheaper DB9's for sale for around 38K & 44K. Both were sold within two days of them appearing on their web site.

yes do have a px - An AM dealer has given a Cap value of between 12500 to 13500 and wbac 13300 so working on 13000 as the px and putting in the rest. But if their sticker is 60 how likely are they to come down a bit?

or put it another way - has anyone had a reduction in the sticker price for a used DB9 at around the 56 to 60 mark? and if so small etc?

Thanks - cant wait to get a DB9 !!

Tricky. I bought my car and paid the full ticket price knowing I was getting top whack on my px (V8V). Its all about the amount to change really. If the dealer is to be believed they actually lost money on my V8V which does not suprise me given what they paid, what they advertised it for and what needed doing to it. He was happy however that he had got me into a DBS. As has been said before on here some dealer cars only have a couple of grand profit in them. Good luck with your search smile
